Single room available to rent for short term all year long in a fully furnished apartment.
The place is situated next to metro Laurier ( 2 minutes walk ), very central and surrounded by cafes, park and supermarket.
The Plateau it's a very special neighborhood, full of activities, restaurants, and much more to discover.
There are plenty of interesting things to see just by walking distance and the public transport are a couple of minutes away from the house.
Parc Laurier is just in front of the house; there is a public pool in the park and few free activities during the summer.
Although the apartment is quite central, the streets are very quiet.
The room is furnished and the apartment is shared with a couple. We have our own bedroom, a living room, bathroom and kitchen.
We have a cat.
Mr Davis is very quiet, friendly and he won't bother you at all.
If you feed him he will be your best friend!
Questions I got asked often from guests:
1- Is there a supermarket near the apartment:
-The closest is Metro supermarket about less that 5 minutes walk. Its open until 10.00pm.
2-Is there Public transport next to the apartment?
-Metro Laurier is 3 minutes walk from the apartment. It will take you pretty much everywhere in short time. There are also few buses available in the area.
3-Can I cook in the apartment?
-Yes you can. You are free to buy whatever you want and use our frigde as well as pans and stove. We are vegetarian so we kindly ask to respect that and avoid to cook a huge steak which will leave an strong smell everywhere.
We had lots of people cooking and never had isssues with it.
4-What time can i check out?
-We are flexible with this and try to accomodate the time to our guests. We usually talk about it when we receive our guest so we can all make sure the time will work for everyone.
We live on a quiet street and we never had issues with noises. Two weekend guests brought up the fact that you can hear tv and people chatting though walls. The Plateau is known for having apartment with thin walls; indeed it can happen to hear people talking as well as tv especially during summer weekend when things get more social. While this never bothered everyone but one person, I still like to add it so you know. In case you are particuarly sensitive to this, you can bring earplugs.
Second concern from the same guest: my cat.
Our cat is friendly, a little shy and all guest that love cats ended up adoring Mr Davis. He does not go in the guest room and he minds his business all time. His toilet is at the entrance and we do keep this clean all time.
Sometimes Im outside all day and the cat will still do his physical needs so it is necessary to be flexible on that.
However if anything cat related bothers you then I can only suggest not to chose apartments with one in it.
We are indipendent workers which means the 9-5 doesn't apply to us. There are days we are home all time and days we won't be there till evening.
There are no really strict rules; its more about being clear on certain things after a couple of misunderstanding and awkward situations.
We are both non-smokers so there is no smoking in the apartment. However, on the back porch you can smoke.
You can use all the rooms freely, but we ask you to keep the space clean or in the same way you found it.
We recycle and we appreciate if you follow this.
We are also vegetarians but we welcome everybody to eat and cook their own choice of food.
Perhaps cooking a steak or rosting a pig can create concerns and can be discussed in person...
Be mindful of our routine and flow. I had guests occupying the bathroom for over an hour during weekdays. We also had cases of an hour long bath which in return left us with very little hot water to have a quick shower. This happened during freezing canadian winter.
There are boundaries to respect when you are in someone else private space and this should be considered all times. If there is no care or consideration for this, hotels might be a better option.
As for the rest, it's basically all common-sense. We treat you as we would like to be treated: friendly, considerate, fair and with a smile ;)
I'm an Italian living in Montreal since 2008, who travelled a lot around the world.
During my trips I realized how special is to be welcomed in a new country from locals and how more enjoyable and safe the experience can be.
I'm a photographer and a licensed massage therapist.
I live with my boyfriend and our cat in a small and cute apartment in the heart of Plateau Mont Royal.
We are vegetarian but we do welcome people to eat whatever they like.
We are quiet ,friendly, traveling lovers, open minded people who likes to enjoy our space.
We are more than happy to host nice, respectful and joyful people!
