Located in historic Anton, 2 hours from Panama City and minutes by car to beaches, Anton Valley & mountains.
Beautifully restored in the town's colonial style by local craftsmen, Villa Astoria offers comfy rooms, relaxing shared spaces & gardens.
Room #11 is a unique room with a garden terrace view, hand-crafted teak double bed, large ceiling fan, and private bath. The room comfortably sleeps two adults. We provide fresh linens and towels for your stay.
All of our guests are welcomed to share the open air terrace and well-equipped kitchen. We have laundry facilities (bring your own detergent) and we ask $1 per wash and dry. The living room has cable TV and comfortable seating for indoor lounging. We have free WiFi that is accessible from the shared spaces and in some of the rooms.
This is the Real Panama - a rural town located in a less known tourist area but close to everything. Check out the church, cultural house/museum & art school. Visit nearby Pacific beaches (full of shells), off-the-beaten-path roads into the mountains, hike into waterfalls, take a drive to Anton Valley.
Special rates can be arranged at Finca (Farm) El Guayabo for a day of horseback riding, sugar cane processing and an active farm environment including lunch. Also, close by is Finca Agroturistica El Manantial a great family-friendly location with local animals and birds for viewing, trails to wander and a beautiful swimming pool. The open air restaurant serves traditional dishes and can provide poolside drinks and snacks too.
Villa Astoria prides itself on being a bit different from an all-inclusive or hotel accommodation. Appealing to the eco-friendly traveller, the villa does not have air conditioning or hot water (a solar water heating system is in the plans, though) and promotes less water usage with cool showers and low flush toilets.
We are happy to uphold the Panamanian law of no smoking in public places.
The property does accommodate pets, sorry! Although you will meet dogs, cats, roosters, chickens and maybe a parrot named Sandra or a bull named Favorito.
We run on a light staff so we appreciate checking in between 2 pm and 7 pm and a check out time of 11 am. Of course, with plenty of notice we can make exceptions.
Given our shared spaces we appreciate you keeping the areas clean and dishes washed.
The fridge is communal so please either take things with you, throw food away or leave dry goods for the next guest to enjoy. To avoid outside friends becoming inside pests, all food should be stored in the pantry or kept refrigerated.
We will provide an orientation and there are manuals in each room that ensures a comfortable and safe stay.
Rebecca is the owner and you can often find her working in the garden or enjoying a meal on the terrace. She enjoys meeting people from around the world and sharing experiences. An on-site concierge/administrator will receive and attend to guests. We provide service in English and in Spanish.
We find that the shared space encourages guest to guest interactions that often turn into shared trips to the beach or a bus ride to El Valle (Anton Valley). You can find signed bottles of wine shared by visitors and certainly read through our guest book for tip and hints on traveller's adventures in the area.
Hi there! I've lived in Panama for over 10 years & decided to do a historic renovation on this house in Anton after I bought it a few years ago. I'm a consultant, so I travel a bit but always have someone here to tend to guests. Villa Astoria is the first stop along the way to creating an eco-village. Want to talk about that, sustainable living, or permaculture, contact me.
