Located steps from the Orcas Island Ferry Terminal, our cozy sea-side cottage is perfect for a family retreat or a romantic getaway. Enjoy a full kitchen, large breakfast bar, and panoramic views of the Salish Sea with all the comforts of home.
Honey Bea's Hideaway is a versatile space, perfect for a romantic getaway for two, or for a group looking to explore Orcas Island. The house comes with a queen bed in a private bedroom along with a sofa couch. With a fully equipped kitchen, complimentary WiFi access, Dish TV, and an in-cottage washer and dryer, Honey Bea's is perfect for longer term stays without sacrificing the comforts of home.
Please note: the photos taken of the space were taken last year (but they're so pretty we're keeping them for now). The furniture has been upgraded, the windows and roof replaced, the outside of the cottage painted blue, and the bathroom partially redone. We're hoping to get new photos taken soon!
What makes the cottages so special is the location. When you get off the ferry, you're at your private parking space in moments. You're within walking distance of everything you need - a restaurant, gift shops, a small grocery store, and transportation rentals. If you want to visit any of the other islands the Washington State Ferry system services, you can just walk down the hill to the ferry terminal and walk on to any of the inter-island ferries for free.
I believe in honesty and making sure guests know what to expect. Over the course of the last year, feedback from guests has encouraged me to make sure future guests are aware of two things: (1) the plumbing at the landing is all quite aged and as such the water pressure does leave a bit to be desired in the shower, and (2) while our address is technically in Eastsound, we are about a 15 minute drive from the main core of the village.
Guests will have access to free WiFi, Dish TV, and a washer and dryer in the unit. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, dishwasher, range, oven, microwave, toaster, hand mixer, coffee machine, pots, pans, dishes, and silverware.
How much we interact with each guest is entirely up to them! If you want information about the island's many attractions, we will be happy to help you explore. If you want to pick up the keys and disappear into the Hideaway, we will respect your privacy and let you soak in the serenity of the island in peace!
If you're looking for a home base to explore all of the San Juans, look no further. Our proximity to the ferry terminal allows for easy walk-on or drive-on travel on the Washington State Ferry system.
No smoking inside the cottage (the porch is fair game) and no pets. Please respect the space, complete the Check Out Checklist, and let us know if there is any way we can make your stay more enjoyable!

I moved to Orcas Island from a little town called Luray, Virginia in June of 2015. It has been a big move but I am absolutely in love with the San Juan Islands. Sharing this area with guests has been such a treat and I look forward to doing it for many years to come! I love traveling, meeting new people, listening to music, playing games, being active outdoors, and sharing stories.
A question I get from guests (and passers-by) is "How did you end up out here?" Well, it's actually a wonderful story. When I was younger, my family lived in this area (bouncing around a bit but ending up in Lake Stevens). At the time, we were "financially challenged"... 5 of us crammed into 2 bedroom apartments. Whenever we could afford it, though, we would take the ferry from Anacortes and come to Orcas Island as a family treat. We loved it!
Maybe there was a defining, cinematic moment where dad looked back at Orcas and declared "One day, I'm going to live there" or maybe it was just in his mind... either way, it was a dream of his to return. When his work took us to the East Coast, dad never forgot Orcas Island. He and mom worked their butts off for 14 years, crawling their way out of debt and becoming true homeowners for the first time. When dad found these cottages for sale, he knew it was time for his dream of over a decade to finally come true! And thus I moved from Virginia to be the steward of these adorable cottages.
