We are honored to treat you to Jasmine Gardens Oasis--a cozy home set back from the street, 3 blocks from ocean beaches. Our space is bright and clean surrounded by gardens--renewing for your heart, body & soul.
We are Marie & Peter, a married couple hosting you in our home located three blocks from the beach, with easy safe parking on the residential street. The Birdsong Room is an upstairs bedroom with private ensuite bathroom. The four rooms inside our home offer either a queen bed (Jasmine Studio and Peach Room) or double bed (Ginger Room and Birdsong Room), with optional single temporary bed in each room, and 10% discount with each additional room you book. We are tucked away from the street near a lovely walk/bike path to the beach--no need to walk on a main street or take a car out into traffic. Our modest garden is serene and renewing . . . grass to sit in or do yoga, a rock waterfall . . . flowering plants, fruit trees and vines . . .porch and brick patios, hot tub . . . with an opportunity for you to receive massage or acupuncture right in your private room or in the garden by healing artists who live nearby. Santa Cruz is a bicycle friendly town. You can rent or bring your own bicycles.
We provide a healthy environment, use green and non-toxic products whenever possible, non-scented soaps and detergents. We are eco-friendly, use solar panels, hang dry clothes when possible, conserve water, and recycle.
ROOM LAYOUT: The Birdsong Room is an upstairs room with a double foam mattress bed and private ensuite bathroom with small shower (no tub). There are south and west facing windows that bring in plenty of sunlight, moonlight, and, of course, birdsong. The south-facing large picture window looks down on the garden. When the surf is high, we can hear the waves from Sunny Cove beating against the cliff through the open west window. Furniture includes an empty dresser available for guests, closet with hangers and some space for hanging clothes, and plenty of surface space on furniture.
EATING: You have use of our kitchen which includes a bay window in addition to the small dining tables in the common room, on the porch, and in the garden. Also available round the clock is the hot coffee and tea in the common room for all the guests (see below).
COMMON AREAS: The common room has a wood stove and bay window overlooking the gardens with sitting areas, printed local information, and hot water dispenser with coffee and assortment of teas available for guests. This common room is shared by guests from all guest rooms. The garden with its patios, pond & waterfall, hot tub and gentle sound of the surf at night are also shared by all.
Everything is set up for guests to be independent --We offer four B&B rooms in our home that are self-sufficient, with the garden and hot tub open to all guests. You will find in your room and in the main common room informational notebooks about the property, the neighborhood, healing artists who deliver services to the home, directions to the beach, bike rentals, local eateries, shops, and other Santa Cruz attractions. We encourage guests to bring back menus from restaurants they have enjoyed to add to the notebooks. If we are not home when you need something, then we are accessible by Airbnb messaging or texting. Regular housekeepers come almost daily and when we are gone for extended periods a guest host stays in our home.
PARKING: The carport is a loading/unloading zone only. Please pull partway under the carport and do not leave your vehicle unattended. The area needs to be open for emergency vehicles for the sake of our neighbors. Your car can easily be parked free of charge on our quiet residential street. Sometimes Sunday nights are a bit crowded due to garbage pickup and you might have to park a few houses' distance.
NOISE: Our house has three other Airbnb rooms, and sound travels in our home, so please be considerate of others during our quiet hours (9:00pm to 7:30am). We allow children in the other Airbnb rooms, so you may hear family life going on around you.
NO SHOES: Because we are a shoes-free home, slip-on slippers and slip-on garden shoes are handy to leave inside and outside the door.
CHECK-IN, CHECK-OUT: Check-in time is 3:00pm and check-out time is 11:00am. Feel free to leave luggage on the porch and make yourselves at home if you wish to arrive early or stay late.
BICYCLES & SURFBOARDS: Rental bikes are available from Bicycle Trip, which includes a pick-up and drop-off service. Surfboards are available all over town. If you bring your own bikes or surfboards you can stow them in our back yard.
HEALING SESSIONS: If you are interested in receiving massage, acupuncture, cranio-sacral therapy or Rolfing here, then message me and I will send you our list of healing artists so that you can make your appointment before you arrive.
WATER CONSERVATION: Santa Cruz area is vulnerable to water shortage. We have installed low flush toilets, we re-use grey water when possible, and we ask our guests to minimize their water usage.
NO SMOKING: No smoking of any kind (See below for details).
NO SHOES: Please remove shoes before stepping in the door.
NO PETS: Although we love pets, we cannot allow pets.
PARKING: The carport is a loading/unloading zone only. Please pull partway under the carport and do not leave your vehicle unattended. The area needs to be open for emergency vehicles for the sake of our neighbors. Your car can be parked free of charge on our quiet residential street.
QUIET HOURS: 9:00pm to 7:30am. We practice respect and quiet for our guests, and expect the same from them. Sound travels easily through the walls in our home, so please be mindful of that. We awaken early before dawn and often go to bed with the dusk. You are free to come and go anytime of morning or night, but please be mindful of quiet hours.
HOT TUB: If you use the hot tub, first shower with soap and tie hair up. This enables us to use minimum chemicals. Please add a cup of hydrogen peroxide per person into the water when you leave the hot tub.
COMMUNICATE: Please read the house description and manual. We encourage you to communicate with us immediately when there is anything you need or want. We want our guests to be happy and we appreciate timely and helpful feedback.
RECYCLING: We ask that you recycle your trash, and we provide triple trash baskets in your rooms for recycling, composting & trash.
HEALING SESSIONS: If you make an appointment with a massage therapist or acupuncturist on the list we provide, we ask that you pay them the cost of the session if you have to cancel (less travel cost) because they have set aside the time for their house call for you.
IF YOU SMOKE: Walk beyond the driveway to the street before you smoke. Please keep all your butts--do not throw them in yards, the outdoor trash bins, or in the street, and dispose of them in a plastic bag inside the grey trash bin under the deck stairs.

We, Peter & Marie, are a married couple who relish offering our sweet space & location to guests. We enjoy living in a tranquil atmosphere and want to share this with others of like mind at our home, Jasmine Garden Oasis near the Sea. It is a modest home tucked away in a modest neighborhood three blocks from the beach in east Santa Cruz with three B&B rooms--2 rooms downstairs with a shared bath and a private separate studio upstairs. We keep gentle gardens and cosy comfortable atmosphere for people who want a time of renewal for body and soul. Mornings we visit the quiet beach to listen to the surf and watch the dawn, and evenings the dusk. We invite guests to join us for early morning yoga and/or meditation in our common room or on the lawn by the pond and waterfall. We have a list of massage therapists and acupuncturists who have offered to deliver their services to our guests in their private rooms.
