Have you had enough of "same same" tourist guesthouses ?
Are you willing to try some real Javanese hospitality and experience life in a local neighbourhood without having to sacrifice creature comforts and privacy ?
Well look no further!

At Larisa Homestay we offer clean, comfortable and spacious rooms, with beautiful teak furniture, and this room in particular boasts a private balcony and a private living room.
All rooms come with freshly laundered bed sheets, bed cover and towels, and both attached and non attached bathrooms have hot water 24 hours a day.
Fan or AC, private or shared bathroom, with or without TV, the choice is yours, and of course there's free Wi-Fi throughout.
We provide a free breakfast every morning and you can help yourself to tea, coffee and drinking water whenever you want.
You are welcome to access all the communal areas, be it the kitchen, the living room, the terrace or the garden.
Eat what the locals eat - home made, lovingly cooked vegetarian or non vegetarian meals (order in advance, extra charge).
We look forward to welcoming you to Larisa Homestay, and to make your stay with us a memorable one ;-)

We are conveniently situated only five minutes from Yogyakarta airport, and approx. 20 minutes from the city center.
We can arrange airport drop/pickup by taxi (extra charge).
From the bus terminal or the train station take the main road towards Solo (jalan Solo). If you are coming from the airport, go to the main road and turn right onto jalan Solo.
About 1.5 kms after the airport, look out on your left for an Alpha Maret (convenience store) and a sign for "Soto Djempol".
Take the next road on the left (jalan Candi Samsbisari, known locally as "Kadirojo").
Continue straight on, crossing a little bridge.
Approx 200 m after the bridge you will see on your left a stone showing "Kadirojo 1" and a yellow gate way, keep on going straight.
After another 200 m there will be a black gate way shaped like a 17 on your left, turn and go through it, we are the fifth house on the right.
If you see the Sambisari Temple (Candi Sambisari) it means that you've gone too far. Turn back and look out for the black gate (from the temple it's the second alley on the right).

Three generations, from Oma (Grand Ma), through me (Bertha) and my french husband, to little DD (our son), are here to welcome you.
We are allways ready to have a chat, and we
are at your disposition if you need free unbiased tourist information about all areas in Indonesia (we've been to most places).
We offer family food, a good opportunity to taste local cuisine while chatting on the terrace:-)

We offer rooms in 2 Homestays.

- Aldebaran Homestay is located right in the center of town, 10 minutes walk from the Jogja City Mall and close from most universities and points of interests like the Malioboro area and the Sultan's Palace, traditional markets, cultural centers, shopping centers, coffee shops, local restaurants, just to name a few.
All rooms come with attached bathroom, hot shower, TV and AC, and there's free Wi-Fi throughout.
If you feel like cooking you are welcome to use the kitchen, and don't forget to pay a visit to our roof top.
Lastly, room service and free self service tea/coffee are available 24 hours a day.

- Larisa Homestay is located next to the Candi Sambisari temple, in the Purwomartani Kalasan area in Sleman, about ten minutes from Jogjakarta's airport. The Sambisari temple is a 9th-century Hindu temple accidentally discovered in 1966 by a farmer whose hoe hit a carved stone that was part of the buried temple ruins. The structure laid about five meters underground, most likely buried by an eruption of volcanic ashes from the nearby Mount Merapi, and very soon the excavation and reconstruction works started. They were completed in 1987, and now the Sambisari temple stands once again proudly showing its architecture style and ornaments reminiscent of those on Prambanan.
Other points of interests near Larisa Homestay include the Kadisoka temple (a partially excavated Hindu temple), "Bathok Bolu" in Sambiroto (religious and cultural ceremonies), and touring rural villages filled with beautiful rice fields. The surroundings are best explored by bicycle, provided free of charge to guests staying a minimum of two nights.
All our bathrooms have hot water, shared bathroom except merapi's room and there's free Wi-Fi throughout.
If you feel like cooking you are welcome to use the kitchen, or you could try one of grandma's heartily cooked dishes.
Lastly, room service and free self service tea/coffee are available 24 hours a day.

Apart from the above mentioned sites and activities you may feel like venturing in town, as said above there are plenty of universities, traditional markets, shopping centers, movie theaters, cultural centers, fitness clubs, coffee shops and local restaurants to keep you busy along the day.
Not to forget the Sultan's palace, and old fashioned colonial buildings dating back from the Dutch era like the main post office, the bank of Indonesia and the BNI 46 buildings.

If you feel like venturing even further you could pay a visit to the Merapi Volcano, or to one of the countless beaches Jogjajarta boasts on its southern coast. Parangtritis beach is the most popular, but there are a zillion of secluded, and much less sought after, beaches near Wonosari.

Both Homestays are ideal places to stay if you want to feel Javanese hospitality and experience life in a local neighbourhood, and get an opportunity to learn about Javanese culture and bahasa Indonesia.

We can also arrange scooter or car rental, and organize trips through Java.

We look forward to welcoming you in one of our Homestays, and to make your stay with us a memorable one ;-)
