Private use of the sprawling upper levels of this large updated mid-century home in a safe, quiet, hillside neighborhood just north of Lake Chabot. 15 min from OAK with traffic. Open floor plan, lofted ceilings, multiple gathering spaces inside and out. Bright and airy with a clean-lined, expansive modern kitchen and well-appointed living room with antique Steinway grand piano. Perfect for retreats/brainstorming sessions. Ask for conference tables/ whiteboards/markers if you need them! All 3 bedrooms have great bay views and are in their own quiet wing off the living room. Relax, retreat, and take in expansive city lights and bay views from the quiet of the hills. Enjoy the convenience of being closer to San Francisco than San Francisco! BART reliably gets you to SF in 20 min.

PETS:
We love animals but cannot accommodate pets. Instead of requesting an exception, please instead search listings that do allow for pets.

MINIMUM AGE
The house is available for rental by those 25 yrs of age and older.

COVID-19
Guidelines and Policies:
We take public health seriously, so we both clean and then disinfect between guests. By cleaning first, and then disinfecting all surfaces, we are following enhanced CDC guidelines for reducing the spread of COVID-19.

All guest’s names must be listed on the reservation. If you want to have a gathering of more than the maximum number of guests allowed here, please search for a different listing that has a higher maximum guest count.

Guests must avoid visiting or staying at the property if they are aware of exposure to COVID-19 positive contacts over the prior 14 days.

If someone in your party becomes symptomatic either during or within 14 days of staying at the property, you may be requested to leave. You agree to notify us immediately of any symptomatic individual(s) in your party so we can prevent any potential exposure to future guests.

Please handle groceries and outside deliveries with an understanding that the virus can live on surfaces like metal, cardboard and plastic for many hours. Also note, we now require a minimum of 48 hours of downtime between bookings to ensure the health and safety of our guests. Additional cleaning supplies, hand soap and hand sanitizer are provided for guest use during their stay.

All touch points are sanitized in guest rooms. Check in is as contact free as possible.

Events are expressly NOT allowed until the State of California is fully reopened. An "event" in this context is defined as ANY number of guests beyond the number listed on the reservation. To be more specific:

No more than the listed maximum number of people are allowed on premises at any one time. And NO persons not already on the reservation are permitted on premises. NO exceptions.

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE PREMISES. See below for more instruction regarding smoking.

SHOES OFF
Please remove your shoes at the door. Slippers are provided for those who need them.

Guests have access to the entire, spacious and airy upper level of the house: 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, huge modern kitchen dining room and comfortable living room with an eclectic blend of classical antiques and iconic mid-century pieces, cozy flop department (in front of 60" TV with Apple TV provided) huge upper view deck, and the upper terrace of the west gardens. The laundry room is shared.

MINIMUM AGE
The house is available for rental by those 25 yrs of age and older.

PLEASE NOTE: Though no animals will be occupying the space and it is very thoroughly cleaned, this house is not appropriate for those with extreme allergies to dogs or birds.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS:
Outside guests are NOT permitted without prior agreement with and notification of host. Only those guests who are accounted for in the Airbnb agreement can access the property without prior express written permission. You will be charged a per person / per day fee for any unauthorized guests, and your reservation will be terminated. You also risk losing your security deposit if unaccounted guests visit the property or you have an unauthorized event on the premises.

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE PREMISES.
If a guest smokes out on the sidewalk, they must contain the trash from smoking: all packaging, butts, etc. must be fully extinguished and disposed of in the large brown bin outside. Do not leave cigarette butts on the sidewalk, in my plants or on the street. Under no circumstances shall a guest throw a lit cigarette into the grasses on this hill. Fire danger is real in California. Use common sense and decency or risk a substantial fine.

GARBAGE
Please sort your trash for the recycling bins provided. If you need to dump the bins inside into the big bins by the garage during your stay please keep them sorted:
Brown for landfill.
Grey for recycling.
Green for compost.
If you have questions about how to sort the garbage, ask before throwing it into the big bins where it will need to be fished out and resorted before pickup.
Please note:
Trash that is not sorted will incur a $50 per can fee - as that is what I am charged by Waste Management for improperly sorted trash

CONSERVATION
California is always in a state of semi- drought. Guests are heartily encouraged to be mindful of conserving water. Please hang and reuse towels, turn off water while brushing teeth, limit showers, etc. Guests are also requested to turn off lights and televisions when not in use.

CLEANING
House cleaning services are before and after your stay. They can be provided once a week on request and for a fee. Daily or more frequent cleaning can be arranged for a fee if given adequate notice. There are environmentally friendly cleaning supplies available for guest use under the bathroom sinks and in the kitchen. With the exception of stripping the beds, please leave the space as you found it.

PANDEMIC SPECIFICS:

During the pandemic, please take every precaution - including wearing masks and disposable gloves - if you are in a public space (like a grocery store) outside of this house. Dispose of the mask and gloves or leave them outside to avoid bringing the virus inside. PLEASE REMOVE YOUR SHOES AT THE DOOR. Please also disinfect any groceries you bring inside.

LAUNDRY and COVID
The laundry room is a shared space, so it is particularly important to use the sanitizer that is there for guest use and wipe down door handles, instrument panels and any surface you might touch while there. .PLEASE WEAR A MASK AND GLOVES WHENEVER IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM and close the door to the stairs at all times.

Please Wash your hands thoroughly and use the hand sanitizer that is left in the bathrooms for the use of guests during their stay.

AGE REQUIREMENT
Primary renter/tenant must be 25 years of age or older. Primary renter/tenant is defined as the person reserving and paying for the security deposit/rental fees and is responsible for all guests staying at the property during their stay.

NON TRANSFERABLE RESERVATIONS
The Airbnb member who made the reservation must be present at check-in, and their party must be as represented when the reservation was accepted. Reservations are non transferable. If you make the reservation, you have to be the one staying here. Otherwise, it is a breach of Airbnb's Terms of Service. A reservation will not be honored and the guest cancellation policy will be applied if the Airbnb member who made the reservation is not present for the stay or has misrepresented their guests or the purpose of their stay in any way.

EVENTS - NO EVENTS WILL BE ALLOWED OR CONSIDERED UNTIL THE STATE IS FULLY OPEN.
Events AFTER THE PANDEMIC IS NO LONGER A THREAT are welcome only with a signed contract outlining additional fees, including but not limited to any required permits, alcohol liability insurance, venue and event coordination fee, number of guests and guest list, specifics on rentals, tenting, music and power requirements, valet, port-o-let load in/out schedule, etc. Full service catering and event production is available at competitive rates. Unauthorized events of any size automatically cause the forfeiture of the security deposit and can potentially incur additional fees. Fees for events start at $1000 and - again - require a separate contract.

This part of the Oakland Hills is quiet, wild and little known. Go right from the house to access great hiking trails. If you're lucky, you even might catch a glimpse of our resident Bald Eagles. We are close to some great restaurants in San Leandro - and of course, the rest of the foodie mecca Oakland has become. The Oakland Zoo, the Lake Chabot Golf Course, and the historic Dunsmuir Mansion are all within a couple miles. The Chabot Space and Science Center is 6 miles away and the Oakland airport is 4 miles away! Without traffic, San Francisco is an easy 20 min. drive. With traffic is anyone's guess, but plan for at least 45 min to account for SF traffic an parking.
