A peaceful place to stay, a short drive from the beach. The Beech Hut is nestled under a 150 year old beech tree in a private garden near Port Isaac. Your own kitchen, shower, sitting & dining area, bedroom with king size bed & luxury bed linen.

Minimum 7 day stays are accepted from May-October, arrival day is Fridays.

The Beech Hut in St Kew village and offers a comfortable stay with luxury mattress, bed linen and fluffy towels (except beach towels). The kitchen has a microwave/convection oven, electric hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, slow cooker so that you can come home to a hearty meal after a day exploring and a dishwasher - no need to worry about the washing up! There is no TV but guests can play DVDs on the flat screen. A selection of books and DVDs are provided for guests to use, take and add to. Wifii is also available but the connection is slow and not always suitable for streaming. The Hut is fully insulated, cool in the summer with a log burner to keep you cosy in the winter - this is the main source of heating and logs are provided. The garden is frequently visited by barn and tawny owls along with many other wild birds and colourful butterflies.

The Beech Hut is accessed by the garden path, cars can be parked nearby in the driveway. Guests can explore the garden and dip toes in the cooling stream on hot sunny days. It is separate, not overlooked by the house and contains everything needed for your stay. It does not have a washing machine but we are happy to take in a load of washing for you.

We love having guests to stay and will provide a map and tide information to help you plan your days. On arrival you'll find a welcome hamper with essentials to get you started in the kitchen and we love sharing our inside knowledge on beaches, waves, places to go and things to do if this is your first time. We will usually be here to welcome you on your arrival.

The Beech Hut is secluded yet in the heart of the village and just a few paces away from the fabulous St Kew Inn with traditional Cornish ales and some of the best pub food in Cornwall served at lunchtime and in the evening.

There is a large private, partially covered deck were you can BBQ on the chiminea or lunch at the picnic table in the sun in the garden and listen to the stream flowing by.

The north coast and Doc Martin's Port Isaac are just 5 minutes drive away and our local village pub and Church across the lane was the setting for filming one of the Rosamund Pilcher episodes recently.

If you're coming to relax, wind down and enjoy the beaches, Padstow, Rock, Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Trebarwith Strand are just some of the beautiful local options. It's possible to visit a different beach every day if you want to explore.

For an active holiday there are many activities all within a half hour drive, these include: water skiing; co-steering; surfing; and sea kayaking.

The Beech Hut is perfectly placed (6 miles cycling from the Hut) for the camel trail which is 18 miles of almost flat off road cycling where all manor of bikes can also be hired and Rick Steins fish and chips or posher grub will lure you to Padstow. There are also the mountain bike trails at Lanhydrock and Cardinham woods, all of these have excellent cafes and make for a great day out. In fact if it's cafes you're looking for, just ask us for our favourite indie places to go to, or our favourite cycling routes taking in stunning sea views.

Slightly further afield, but reached within less than an hours drive are the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the delightful south coast including Fowey and Looe.

The north coast of Cornwall is well known for its fine food and sea food. There are 2 Michelin star restaurants in Port Isaac as well as fine dining in Padstow.

Having your own transport is essential due to the rural nature of the location. There is no public transport in the village.

Sadly the Beech Hut is not suitable for those with limitted mobility due to the spiral staircase up to the bedroom.

We spent a fantastic, relaxing week at the beech hut. The property is tucked away in the beautiful garden and is not overlooked offering lots of privacy. The hut itself was very well presented and everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comforable and we both slept extremely well whilst we were there. Leonie is a great host, very friendly and helpful and had provided a nice welcome hamper which was a lovely touch. The St. Kew Inn is literally 10 yards away and well worth a visit (or 2). We would definitely recommend the beech hut for a relaxing romantic week away in a lovely part of the UK

Perfect location for exploring this part of Cornwall. The cabin was so comfortable and homely; absolutely everything had been thought of. Hosts were lovely and let us know they were there if we needed anything. My first Airbnb experience and I think it will be hard to beat. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

What a enchanting place! The location is perfect for exploring north Cornwall and it’s beautiful villages, beaches, and country paths and is convenient for going further afield as well. St. Michael’s Mount, Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the grand Lanhydrock Manor House and lots more…but back to the cottage and our hosts. The cottage is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and has everything you might need including a very comfortable bed and the thoughtful touch of a hamper with muesli, coffee, eggs and other goodies to start you off. The cottage sits in a lush and mature garden which you can admire from inside the cottage or walk into it with your morning coffee and enjoy it up close. In addition to that it is incredibly quiet with nothing but the sound of owls lulling you to sleep at night and bird songs greeting you in the morning. Add to all that the proximity to the St. Kew Inn Pub where we would have a final glass of wine and hang out with the locals after a long day of trekking around Cornwall and then a short stroll back to the cottage. Our hosts Leonie and her husband Rob could not be lovelier. Always warm and helpful, welcoming and never intrusive. We enjoyed their company for a night cap at the pub….new friends that we will hopefully meet again in NYC or back in Cornwall as we would certainly repeat our stay at the cottage. Oh and finally Jet the cat! He would come visit regularly giving an extra feeling of being at home. Highly Recommended.

The Beech Hut is one of the best places myself and partner have ever stayed in - it is so lovely and private, so much attention to detail and a lovely little hamper on arrival. One of the best things is the stream you can hear on the patio it is so peaceful. Lovely secluded area yet in easy reach of other towns and attractions. St Kew Inn does absolutely amazing food, make sure to reserve a table! We already can't wait to book another visit, thank you Leonie & Rob!

Spent a fab few days at the hut. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Spotlessly clean and everything was provided. The wood burner and candles made for cosy evenings and when we could it was lovely to sit on the veranda and look over the beautifully stocked garden listening to the trickle of the stream. The bed was extremely comfy too. Leonie is so warm and friendly A wonderful place to stay.

A really lovely place to stay with many thoughtful small details. The beech hut has a well equipped kitchen and really comfortable bed. We loved having the woodburning stove, which made it really cosy and toasty for our stay in September. Also loved the hammock on the deck looking out on the garden. Leonie and Rob were very kind and welcoming. Walking in the area is excellent and there are nice bays for swimming - and plenty of useful maps and guidebooks in the hut. The St Kew Inn has excellent food too. We recommend and hope to return.

Hi I'm Leonie and I love having people to stay at the Beech Hut where you can explore this beautiful part of the country.
I've lived and worked overseas for over 10 years and travelled lots in Europe, Asia and Africa. I settled here in Cornwall over 12 years ago with my family and love walking along the coast and cycling the many local trails.
As a host it's always fun to get to know guests a little and to recommend local places or to allow you to have a quiet time if you prefer.
