There are shops and restaurants on Broadway, Bennett Ave. at 181, Fort Washington Ave. For easy access to the top of the park, take the elevator in the subway station. You can find it by walking down the tunnel from Bennett at the 190th stop of the A train and turning left before the turnstiles. The elevator is on your left. It will take you to the upper level of Fort Tryon Park and the main entrance. The Cloisters, Heather Gardens, Hudson River views are very easily accessed from this point. You can also walk through the park and up any of the old stone stairwells or pathways to get there. There is a lovely restaurant that I highly recommend going to one day for brunch located in the park called New Leaf. Sometimes people get married in the park and have receptions at the restaurant and it is closed, so call ahead of time. Darling Coffee in Inwood and Cafe Buuni around 187 both have great coffee.
