This whole, large luxurious house is for rental. It is used as a holiday home and is in the pretty Swedish countryside 50 miles from Gothenburg, in the ancient settlement of Eriksberg, near Falkôping. The house has everything for the family or large group, including games room, film projector, bicycles and large garden. It is good biking country for both cycles and motorbikes. My son lives next door to attend to you! You are best to drive or rent a car to make sightseeing easy.
The house was built in the 1940s and was one of the finest and biggest in the area! We have almost completely renovated it and it is now a very luxurious Summer home! There are all mod cons: underfloor heating in the new bathroom, air-to-air heat pumps, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, and even a Sauna! It is an absolutely huge house, being on three floors and on the ground floor, there is a massive Hall, completely rebuilt, with a wood floor and ceiling - this is an entertainment room with film projector, table tennis and games and a wood burning stove - ideal for families! It can even accomodate parties and Weddings (there's one booked for August!) and would be ideal as a Yoga hall for retreats or for Bands ( my son has a recording studio next door!!) Extra people can sleep in it too! However, there are no shortage of beds in the Pink House - there are enough beds for a total of 17 people. There are 2 brand new bathrooms - one huge and luxurious, with large walk in shower and bath tub and one very cute shower room on the third floor in the charming loft space.
There is a self contained flat in the middle of the house that can be rented separately, for upto 6 (7 with the Futon bed) Please ask for prices. The garden is delightful and large, with separate lawned areas and there is a barbeque and some outside seating.
On the lower ground floor is the washing machine and tumble dryer and third toilet, but best of all is an Infrared Sauna. This type of Sauna is reputed to be the most beneficial to health!
A wander into the village of Eriksberg will bring you to one of the oldest churches in Sweden and a village steeped in history. There is more history at the 12 century Varnhem Abbey, a lovely drive across picturesque countryside with meadows of botanical significance close by. For more nature, there is a beautiful swimming lake up the road from the house, 25mins on the bicycle (10 minutes in the car). Lake Hornborgasjön, a beautiful nature reserve is only 30 mins drive away. Here, up to 15,000 dancing Cranes gather each year from late March - Mid April on their migratory route to N. Sweden and Norway. However, some pairs settle locally and you can hear their haunting, bell-like, resonant call throughout the summer and if you are luck catch sight of birds in elegant flight. If you want some city life, the regional city, Borås, is just 45 minutes drive away and cultural Göteborg and the Archipelago, less than 60 (English) miles away! The west cost beaches are only a day trip away.
For winter holidays, there is family Skiing in Falköping (45 mins drive in the winter) and 6 ski slopes in Ulricehamn, which is also worth visiting in the summer for it’s large, picturesque lake with cycle tracks around the edge and lakeside cafe.
Please be aware you City folk, that this is a Swedish 'summer home' and as such it is rather luxurious, but it is not up to hotel standards! Also, be aware you city folk that the property is in the middle of the countryside, so there may be bugs and there may smells of the countryside!
There is no TV antenna but we have masses of films with the projector and a Playstation!
Guests may use the whole house apart from the rooms that are still being renovated. Please be mindful of children in such a large house with lots of stairs and also be aware that the garden is 'open plan', which is common in rural Sweden.
My son is next door and is available for help and advice should guests require his service.
There is everything you will need in the kitchen, also a washing machine and tumble dyer. We also supply bed linen and towels. Wifi is available. There is a large garden and a large barbeque and tables and chairs. In the basement is an infared Sauna. Please ask about bringing your pets.
Breakfast can be provided at £5 per person per day when available.
Please look after the house as you would your own place!
