We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean and perfect for our stay. It is just near a wonderful beach where we spent a lot of our time and near enough to town to walk and get dinner. They also had bikes available to rent which we also used to explore the beautiful island. Really hope to be back soon!
We travelled to La Digue for my 30th birthday. This chalet was perfect for our 10 day stay. It is only a short walk to Anse Severe, where we chose to spend the majority of our time. The jetty and "city center" are a 5 minute bike ride away, Anse Source d'Argent is a 15 minute bike ride and the grocery is a 10 minute bike ride. House was equipped with almost everything we needed with the exception of a flash light. Luckily we brought our own, so I would recommend the same to anyone who visits as it gets very dark at night. However the area is extremely safe, even at night. The outdoor shower was a plus, and helped keep sand out of the chalet. We enjoyed sitting on the spacious front porch in the mornings and evenings, listening to the calls of roosters, sounds lizards, and the thumps of fruit dropping on the roof. Helen and her family were extremely gracious hosts and we enjoyed getting to know each of them. If there was anything we needed, they helped us find it (even coffee when there was a shortage on the island). Seychelle, the daughter, went above and beyond on my birthday by leaving a beautiful bouquet of flowers and fruits from their gardens for me to enjoy. La Digue was a magical place and the chalets made our stay extra special.
We were warmly meet at the jetty by Seychell, she made us feel right at home. Blaze was GREAT in helping us get settled in with all our needed amenities, food, tours, bicycles, taxis, internet, just to name a few. Looking back with out his assistance we would have missed out on some once in a life time opportunists. Tommy's Place is a MUST for dinner for any visitor as Chef Flavors will insure your palate is satisfied and your belly is full. 5 Stars. The property was a minutes walk to the beach that was suitable for snorkeling or swimming. Inside accommodations were clean and modern and set up to accommodate various sleeping needs. Everything a cook could ask for, even an out door BBQ pit. A deck provided a great area for a morning coffee. Modern bathroom with a envious shower. Checking out was easy as we had to be at the Jetty at early, even arranged a taxi. I would highly recommend the accommodations to anyone.
Fantastic location. Two minutes walk to the beach. Generously stocked kitchen with a bit more supplies than other airbnb units where we have stayed. Nice fast internet. Ample hot water unlike some other Seychelles airbnbs. Trip highlights: -We loved the free-range tortoises! There were three near the beach road right near our house and more along the way. -One of the highlights of the whole trip was the unassuming veuve reserve. We sat on a bench outside of the visitor center for about 5 minutes before we saw a beautiful male paradise flycatcher fluttering around a tree. The female was nearby. We walked through the reserve and saw several more flycatchers. We also saw a really cool flying fox roosting tree where about a dozen were all hanging by their feet. We also saw some nice green geckos on one of the signs along the path. It was amazing to think about the fact that these are probably the most rare birds we will see in our entire lives. There are only a few hundred left in the whole world. Most visitors who were biking or walking along the road didn't even notice. -We snorkeled by the rocks on the left side and near the big rock in the middle. The currents were strong on the left side but when they weren't too strong, we did see a lot of beautiful fish including an eel and the most amazing school of convict tangs - several hundred or maybe 1000. The water by the rock had less strong current but we had to walk over the reef to access the swimming area. More beautiful fish including peacock grouper. It was a bit cloudy when we were here and it might be more clear in other months. -We liked the bakery in town. We bought a bag of tiny citrus fruits and used them as salad dressing and as flavoring in curry. We also bought a bag of tiny hot peppers at a farm stand. We also bought a bag of white daikon raddishes which were tasty and fresh. We also had fresh lettuce which, for some reason, we could not find on Praslin. We missed the fresh fruit from Praslin which was not as available on La Digue but one of the farm stand sellers told us that La Digue is better for vegetables and Praslin is better for fruit!
How much better could our landing on La Digue have been? We were greeted by Helen, Frank, Blaze and Seychelles (daughter), an oversized golf cart for us and our baggage and all of their friendly smiles! We felt like part of the family. The house was wonderful; amazingly equipped for gourmet cooking if we had had the time. Location was great; just a short walk for a great view and a wonderful beach where snorkeling was great. We loved it all!
