Located in historic Anton, 2 hours from Panama City and minutes by car to beaches, Anton Valley & mountains.
Beautifully restored in the town's colonial style by local craftsmen, Villa Astoria offers comfy rooms, relaxing common areas & gardens.
Budget-friendly rooms #1 & 2 are located inside the villa. Each is equipped with a ceiling fan and storage spaces. Rooms 1 & 2 overlook the front street and the screened windows provide ventilation. We provide the linens, towels and a fresh soap for your stay. We recommend these rooms to the travellers on a budget or as a stopover spot when travelling through the Anton District.
All of our guests are welcome to share the open air terrace and well-equipped kitchen. We have laundry facilities (bring your own detergent) and we ask $1 per wash and dry. The living room has cable TV and comfortable seating for indoor lounging. We have free WiFi that is accessible from the shared spaces and in some of the rooms.
Rebecca is the owner and you can often find her working in the garden or enjoying a meal on the terrace. She enjoys meeting people from around the world and sharing experiences. An on-site concierge/administrator will receive and attend to guests. We provide service in English and in Spanish.
We find that the shared space encourages guest to guest interactions that often turn into shared trips to the beach or a bus ride to El Valle (Anton Valley). You can find signed bottles of wine shared by visitors and certainly read through our guest book for tip and hints on traveller's adventures in the area.
Villa Astoria prides itself on being a bit different from an all-inclusive or hotel accommodation. Appealing to the eco-friendly traveller, the villa does not have air conditioning or hot water (a solar water heating system is in the plans, though) and promotes less water usage with cool showers and low flush toilets.
We are located in a residential neighbourhood steps away from the historic town square, museum and church. It is an ideal location during festivals, celebrations and events since it is very close to parade routes and activities. Expect a lively interaction with locals when there is a celebration or holiday in Anton.
We are happy to uphold the Panamanian law of no smoking in public places. We strive to conserve energy & water and apply permaculture principals. The property does accommodate pets, sorry! (although you will meet dogs, cats, roosters, chickens and maybe a parrot or a bull)
We run on a light staff so we appreciate checking in between 2 pm and 7 pm and a check out time of 11 am. Of course, with plenty of notice we can make exceptions.
Given our shared spaces we appreciate you keeping the areas clean and dishes washed.
The fridge is communal so please either take things with you, throw food away or leave dry goods for the next guest to enjoy.
Once you arrive we can provide you with an orientation and there is a reminder manual in each room as a reference guide.

Hi there! I've lived in Panama for over 10 years & decided to do a historic renovation on this house in Anton after I bought it a few years ago. I'm a consultant, so I travel a bit but always have someone here to tend to guests. Villa Astoria is the first stop along the way to creating an eco-village. Want to talk about that, sustainable living, or permaculture, contact me.
