We are located in Ongata Rongai about 20km from Nairobi city centre. The elephant orphanage, giraffe centre, Karen Blixen and Nairobi National Park are all on the same side of town. You have your own room and share our kitchen and bathroom.
We work from home and the lounge is a little ... "administrative" shall we say. But there is a couch and we do relax now and then. You are free to use the kitchen and will have your own bedroom. It is an apartment in a compound and there is a dog and several chickens that live in the compound - they don't belong to us though and you will barely notice the animals. Tracey is usually around, but Francis disappears on safaris (we run a tour company) from time to time. So if you are lucky you will be hosted by both of us, but generally expect only Tracey.
There is parking if you are brave enough to drive in Nairobi. You can enjoy the sunshine down on the grass or sit on the balcony if you prefer a bit more privacy (there are a few children who live in the other apartments and they like to play outside). We can give you a spare key for the front door.
Tracey is usually around, working from home. If you are arriving by public transport, we can come and meet you at the bus stop and show you the way home. As we have a tour company, we can offer advice about travelling in Kenya (but we are not doing this to try and sell you something don't fear about that!!).
I am Australian, but I live in Kenya now. My partner is Francis and he's Kenyan .... and it's all his fault that I'm stuck here :) Together we started a tour company that operates tours throughout East Africa (and beyond sometimes). I love travelling and have been a Couch Surfer for many years, both hosting and surfing. Staying with people is the best way to get to know a place and I have had so many great experiences and made incredible friends travelling this way. Now that we have started a business, the travel budget is significantly lower than ever before so we want the world to come to us.
