A beautiful, contemporary self catering apartment in a modern secure complex opposite the beach in Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa.


Stunning, modern, 2 bedroom apartment in Hout Bay. Close to shops and across the road to the beach. Undercover, secure parking. Own private garden and pool area which, due to the extensive drought in Western Cape, has been converted into a contemporary patio area with gravel and borders with Cape Reeds, grasses and succulent plants.

This is a lush, self-catering, 2 bedroom vacation rental which is the ideal haven for holiday seekers, including all that you could ever desire. This ground level apartment situated in Hout Bay features a private garden and pool. It is within easy walking distance to the shoreline as well as the stores and eateries of Hout Bay.

Inside there is a roomy and snug open plan lounge with a flat screen TV complemented by DStv, and the kitchen featuring everything you would need, including an electric oven and hob, a washing machine and dishwasher. During the colder months this will be the perfect place to relax with underfloor heating.

The bedrooms with double beds are divided across the two levels, with the one on the ground level including a flat screen TV as well. From the living area, open the full height sliding doors to step into the patio with a dining area and BBQ facilities by the garden and pool for casual outdoor dining.

To complete this holiday package, a domestic service once a week is included and is covered by an alarm along with armed response.


You will have your own private garden with private pool. Full DSTV package and maid service once per week.


As often as you'd like. If you're new to Hout Bay I can recommend amazing restaurants and things to do locally. I live in the next bay so if I can assist with anything whatsoever during your stay please let me know and I will be pleased to pass by/assist.


the wifi is high speed via LTE and is pay as you go. The SIM card is provided so you just need to top up at the local Vodacom shop which is located 2 minutes walk away next door to the Woolworths supermarket and other shops/coffee shops.
The pool is open during the summer period only and the cover is put on when the pool becomes too cold to use and/or we move into the winter season (usually in April).
Please note that a hairdryer is not provided so please bring your own if it is needed.
The electricity is prepaid, and I ensure there is adequate on the unit for the duration of your stay and can top up quickly and remotely if ever required.

Lee is am amazing host. I had the pleasure of staying in his home from June until August writing my dissertation on my sabbatical. The location is perfect. Pool, close to several markets but also quite and unlike the city hussle and hussle. However it is close to everything and Hout Bay itself is a jewel. Being from America, Lee made sure that all of my needs were met. The security officers made me feel not only safe, but they even aided me with bags, groceries, and even helped me in planning my free time. The maid/housekeeper came once a week and she was excellent. she even took care of my laundry. My research assistant and I also had the great pleasure of being treated to a fabulous meal at a local tapas restaurant by Lee and his partner. if you are going to Capetown, stay with Lee and you will feel at home.

Whilst we had a good stay I can't give this listing 5 stars. To start off with the positives, the apartment is a great size, the towels are hotel grade, the kitchen is well equipped, there are plenty of brochures of tourist activities available and the beds are comfortable. Now to the downsides. Unfortunately we didn't discover until after booking, if the electricity that has been prepaid by the host runs out you need to top up at your own expense. Whilst we didn't run out, the thought of having to top up was not ideal. I have never come across this in any airbnb before. Wifi is an option in the apartment but again at your own expense. You have to go and purchase a sim/data yourself to use with the router available in the apartment. When you are arriving close to 9pm at night after travelling for 7 hours with no local handphone this is an inconvenience. If this was incorporated into the cost of the apartment and already set up by the host before arrival it would be much better. A traveller wants as minimal hassle/running around as possible when in a foreign country and visiting for a short time. Other little touches like soap for the shower, tea, a hairdryer (little homely things) were not available. Also there were hairs all over the sink and on top of the toilet upon arrival. Finally the photo of the garden is not up to date. Whilst we appreciate that the area is in drought the garden is nothing like the picture and if the picture is there to help sell the place it is then misleading. What grass there is, is over due for a trim and the pool cover is filthy making any thought of taking it off to dip our feet in disappear. Communication with Lee and Bruce was absolutely fantastic and I can't fault them. They gave clear checkin instructions and were in touch the whole stay. The lightbulb in the bathroom was out and they responded and repaired asap. Again this is not to say we didn't have a good stay as we did, but after travelling with airbnb over the world these other things didn't meet prior standards we have experienced.

We are glad you enjoyed your visit to South Africa, Hout Bay and the apartment and we appreciate your feedback. We don’t offer a hair dryer, as stated on the profile, due to previous thefts and generally we don’t put tea and soap products in because we have done so previously and find that, with so many products and personal tastes, people prefer to buy their own and therefore what we put in just goes to waste. From my experience some rentals do put in soap, tea and the like, some don't. Some even put in bottled water or a complimentary bottle of wine so I will keep options open for next season if I see the right thing to put in. Regrettably, Cape Town is in its 4th month of its worst drought in 25 years, with severe water restrictions imposed on us all by the local Authorities so no watering of gardens or cleaning of cars and pools is permitted, as dam levels in April were already critical and the priority is to focus on not having to cut water supplies and minimise water usage. This is entirely out of our control and a temporary situation until the rains return. You must appreciate that everyone is working extremely hard to use minimal water, that includes not washing cars, windows and even pool covers. We closed the pool a few days before your arrival because the water temperature gets too cold at this time of year and we get wind and leaves whereby one day you have a tidy clean garden and the next its full of sand and leaves. As mentioned on my airbnb page I am always available to call round and quickly tidy and clean up after the winds have blown, if needed. It never crossed my mind to change the garden picture on my profile page because all of my guests booked last year and I have to say, have been incredibly supportive of the issue surrounding the drought and fully appreciate the position everyone here is in with regard to dry gardens. I would go further to say that our guests this season all arrived being very aware of the drought situation and showing willing to support the community through minimising water usage themselves. I don’t feel my profile picture misleads anyone and none of my guests this season have made inference to that; if they did, then of course I would deal with that accordingly. As we don’t now take bookings until Dec 2017/Jan 2018 I see no reason to change that image and the garden will return hopefully to its former green state once we get rain. In South Africa internet is extremely expensive and there are little or no cost effective prepaid packages for non fibre customers. Many areas, including Hout Bay, still don't have fibre and in a time where guests use iPhones and high data usage, we feel it fair that guests pay their own way for WIFI and this is not uncommon at holiday accommodation here. It also means there is no limit imposed to wifi usage which I feel would be more inconvenient and annoying to many guests. As and when Hout Bay moves to fibre and reasonable wifi packages become available we will be putting that in place at the apartment for guests ease and I will make this clear on the air bnb profile. I do explain to everyone that the Vodacom shop to top up is just a 2 minute walk away in the local shopping centre and that they only need top up using the SIM already provided. I manage the prepaid electric myself and ensure adequate available for the duration of the stay and, if ever required, can easily and quickly top up remotely, but to date this has never been necessary. Finally, I was very sorry to read of the small hairs in the bathroom and I apologise as that was a total surprise to me. Our cleaning staff have been with us for many years now and clean to the highest standards and this has always, thankfully, been reflected in the reviews we receive. It is also really important to us that our guests arrive to a clean, tidy, safe and comfortable environment when they visit. Lee's place is a super option for Hout Bay, very close to the beach and shops/ cafes. Lee and Bruce were also extremely helpful when we needed any hints and tips or assistance. Thoroughly recommended

One of the best airbnb stays for so many reasons... The apartment is beautiful and was ideal for us and our five month old. Near the beach, restaurants, Chapman's Peak and just a drive from even more fab spots. Lee and Bruce were incredible hosts going over and above the normal call of duty. Always available and willing to offer tips and advice throughout the stay. In our opinion Lee and Bruce make airbnb what it should be and far better than any hotel stay! Kitchen great for meals in and outside space perfect for sunny breakfasts. Thanks again guys!

Great location to spend time around Cape Town and discover the Cape Peninsula. We (family with 2 small kids) always felt very safe (underground parking, alarm system and security guard available). Our contact person Bruce was very helpful and even messaged us tips for our stay. There were plenty of beach towels and even an umbrella available, which was great to visit e.g. Llandudno beach. Only minus was the WLAN which was available, but airtime needs to be purchased extra from Vodacom-Shop. Shopping and dining is located close by. Do visit Hout Bay Food Market close to Harbour - We loved it! And go through Chapmans Peak Drive to CapePoint Vineyards on a Thursday! There is another Food Market which we all enjoyed.

Lee was great and reacted immediately to any requests. The location was fantastic and the apartment was spotless. For overseas visitors it would be good to provide a hairdryer but we bought one cheaply from the local shops. We had a great time and would return.

This was just perfect stay for our family. Location of the apartment, the garden with the pool and BBQ and the clean and tidy interior was very nice. The interior is actually more fresh than pictures shows. Lee was very friendly and helpful before and during our stay. Five star host!
