The Artist’s Cottage is a heritage listed icon in the heart of picturesque Lettes Bay miner’s village. Absolute waterfront, the Cottage is owned and run by Tasmanian artist Kate and her foodie husband Jay. A peaceful retreat at the edge of an island at the bottom of the world, you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing, peaceful stay.

Every inch of The Cottage has been painstakingly restored including a stylish new kitchen and bathroom. Featuring an ever evolving array of original works by Kate and other Australian artists, an extensive library of fascinating books and artists materials for our guests to use, the space is designed to feed the mind, body and soul. Relax in the bath tub with a view of the bay, cook up a delicious Tasmanian feast in the kitchen or simply sit on the covered veranda and gaze out over the water. The Cottage provides an ideal space for 2 but can accomodate up to 2 adults and 2 children with the use of a sofa bed in the living room.

The Artist’s Cottage is set on the shoreline of Macquarie Harbour hidden amongst the Heritage Listed miners village of Lettes Bay, a short drive from Strahan. Secluded in the World Heritage listed rugged West Coast of Tasmania, this is a magical place where the weather is ever changing and the natural beauty breathtaking.

Born in Hobart, Tasmania, raised in London I have lived all over the world. Now in my 40s I’m back living where my soul soars in Australia. We’ve recently moved to a small farm south of Launceston where we grow our own food, rear our own meat and will soon grow our own wine. But my favourite place in our farm is my studio in a 200-year old converted barn where I make. Our family motto is “experiences not things” and we do everything we can to fill our lives with wonderful experiences. We hope by creating beautiful, unique and creative spaces for our guests to stay in, we can fill your life with wonderful experiences too.

We’ll provide you with everything you need to know before your arrival including directions, parking details and key code which we recommend you download prior to starting your journey as phone reception locally can be patchy.

During your stay, interaction is kept to a minimum - we want you to have a peaceful, relaxing time at our cottage. However, we’re always on hand via Airbnb, text or email should you need anything. And our housekeeper and handyman live footsteps away from the Cottage so we can have someone onsite in minutes in case of a problem.
