Our home is an oasis. In a busy city like LA, it's feels like a private calming escape. And the neighborhood is one of the most desired in Los Angeles. We have a beautiful outdoor space. You may not want to leave!
Our place has a beautiful bohemian/ mid-century style home and fun tropical yard with great views. We are in a hip neighborhood in the Silver Lake hills next to Hollywood and downtown. (also, right up the hill from the new Whole Foods 365 within walking distance). There are two bedrooms with a king size Sleep Number bed in one and our sons bunk beds in the other as well as two inflatable mattresses - a queen and a twin. The bathroom has an open, concrete shower surround and a separate 40" wide double end tub roomy enough for two, vaulted ceiling, river rock floor and skylight. Aside from the bathroom smooth river rock floor, the entire house has cork floors throughout, with a few cozy rugs thrown in. The kitchen is modern (see pics) with stainless appliances and a 36" wide, five burner stove/oven, and large fridge with ice maker and filtered water. Kitchen is stocked with many culinary appliances and fully equipped to create and serve delicious meals. Up down washer dryer are tastefully hidden off the kitchen behind a door that looks like a wall. In the floor to ceiling windowed, 4 season porch/ living room there is a 52" flat screen with 300 cable channels and high speed DSL as well as Netflix on demand and an extensive DVD collection. Ah yes, and a PS3 and an outdoor digital movie projector and screen for nighttime screenings. We are fully A/C'd if it gets toasty or chilly outside. There is an extensive book collection for whiling away the day reading in our tropical front yard in our covered grotto or up on our new large two level hardwood deck with a view of the San Gabriel mountains with an 8 ft. dining table outside for evening dinners with perfect southern California sunsets. We have a large stainless BBQ with all the bells and whistles on the deck for the chef in all of us (well, most of us). And the deck is directly accessible through a door to the kitchen and stairs to the yard. Both deck and grotto are twinkle lit at night. And there is a fire pit and plenty of firewood. Street parking is plentiful directly in front of the house. The house is on the top of a hill in Silver Lake, so there are nice breezes and not the kind of heat one gets in summer in "the low lands" in LA. On top of all that, our yard is very private with a tropical bamboo barrier to the street and a locking front privacy gate to access the yard. Our tropical getaway is so private its clothing optional. Haha. There are at least a dozen restaurants within walking distance, ranging from casual family (Astro's and Home) to nice night out (Blair's and Edendale Grill) to The Red Lion, our local authentic German pub and restaurant. An exception Vietnamese restaurant, Ginger Grass, is within walking distance, as well. There are a number of coffee shops and bars also within walking distance and cool downtown LA is right around the corner by car or Lyft. 365, Starbuck's, CVS, Silverlake coffee, Gingergrass, Red Lion, Cha cha lounge, Silverlake wine, Astro's, Home, Thai taste, Gus's lunchbox (good authentic mexican), and modern eats are within walking distance... and lots more if you want to walk a little further. We like to run or bike the Silver Lake Reservoir, which is right down the hill and has a complete path encircling it, as well as a couple lovely grassy parks, one with a great playground. The LA River, 1/2 mile away, offers biking and an odd mix of flora, fauna and concrete and now kayak/canoeing (this is not a joke). Frankly, this place and location are marvelous. Hollywood, Downtown, Glendale and Pasadena (via Hwy. 2) are all within 10 minutes drive.
No pets. No Smoking in the house. Minimum stay, three nights. There is a $125 cleaning fee. Recreational/residential rental ONLY, at the current nightly rate. For professional use, owner is happy to negotiate a commercial use rate. See house rules.
You'll have access to the entire upstairs indoor and outdoor space. The downstairs unit, down the slope of the hill, is a separate Air BnB space with it's own private yard.
We generally are gone out of town when we rent the home. But we will have a manager who can help with check in, if need be, and address any issues you might have. We are always reachable by phone or if out of the country, by (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or the Air BnB app or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Messenger.
Again, Parking is street parking and there are no permanent parking restriction signs at all, nor are there any car placards necessary. The general rule is that a car that has not moved at all from it's spot for 14 days is subject to towing. We do not offer guest parking in our carport.
We want you to enjoy your time here and relax. But we do expect for you to care for our home like you would your own.
We ask that you use coasters for all beverages on any wood surface.
We love kids and welcome them. Just remember you are responsible for any damage.
Make sure the fire pit is placed safely on the stone in the yard if you use it, and not under the grotto roof or on the deck.
NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE. But outside is OK, of course.
Please lock doors, including gate dead bolt, when you come and go and turn off unused lights and A/C.
Any occupants under 21 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
THESE RENTAL TERMS ARE FOR RESIDENTIAL/RECREATIONAL STAYS ONLY. NO PROFESSIONAL USE OF THE HOME IS ALLOWED INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PHOTO SHOOTS, FILM/COMMERCIAL/TV SHOOTS, CONFERENCES, BUSINESS GATHERINGS. We would be happy to rent for these purposes under different terms. Please speak with the owner.
Otherwise, we are pretty laid back.
Please, when it appears it may rain, place all chairs in the yard under the cover in the yard and tarp the couch, with particular attention to the tarp covering the back and the sides of the couch. You can leave the deck chairs in the rain.
Please respect the neighbors in terms of volume and late night gatherings.

I was born in California but spent most of my life in Minnesota, as did my wife. We are a family of three....I work as an Actor and my wife Michelle owns a wonderful boutique called Treehaus in Atwater Village here in LA. We've been LA residents since 2000 and love it out here...mostly. As Minnesotan's, we wear friendliness and responsibility, as well as playfulness and creativity, on our sleeve. Travel is a central part of our lives.
