Our midcentury modern building, The Hive is a working artspace in the Coronado historic 'hood near downtown Phoenix. Part art gallery, artist studio, zine distro, meditation studio, resale boutique, coffee bar and '65 trailer, we offer an unconventional urban glamping experience.
It's a travel trailer from the 60s in awesome shape. Not glamorous, but cozy. Outdoor sink and private shower just outside the door, the toilets are a 50 foot walk in The Hive building. There is a plush futon custom made for the space. It is larger than a full and a bit smaller than a queen.. The kitchenette is not functional, but if you want to prepare food, we can get you a hotplate and toaster oven. We have a refrigerator and microwave that you can use as well. From time to time, guests experience difficulty with the wifi. It seems to depend on the device you are using. If you cannot get good reception inside the trailer, there is a gallery/lounge area inside The Hive you can use that seems to have great WiFi reception for everyone's needs.
There is free parking on the street with no restrictions.
The vibe at The Hive is great, with the artists' studios, art gallery, coffee shop, zine disto, thai meditation, art and healing studio, resale boutique and so many energetic and creative people around...
We keep the guest space and bathrooms clean. As was mentioned earlier, The Hive is a working art space, so materials and projects are ongoing....but the trailer has its own enclosed space, and once you're inside, you're cocooned away from the rest of the world...There is a rope to draw across the entrance to your space, if you would like to use it to ensure people do not enter your yard area.
The Hive is part of the vibrant culturally mixed historic Coronado neighborhood, close to the arts district, museums and light rail. The neighborhood has many unique local restaurants.
We are usually at The Hive Monday-Sunday 10am-6pm.
At any time, we can be there at a moment's notice.
For check-in, let us know when you will be arriving. We will meet you. Come in through the front of the building on the east side during business hours, otherwise we will meet you there to let you in. If you are a late arrival, or we have conflicting plans, no problem, we can give detailed instructions for self check-in.
We know a lot about our city, talk to us!
Be respectful. We are humble working people. Take care of our things. No parties please. There is smoking allowed outside on the premises, just not inside the trailer. We do our best to keep the space scent free, so please be mindful of this if applying your perfume or cologne.
Also! If there is a "mishap"(something broken, spilled?) please let us know ASAP so that we can clean up or provide products if you prefer to do that yourselves.
I am a second generation Phoenician. I retired after 30 years of teaching in 2011 to help my husband open an art gallery and resale boutique. We have spent the last 20 years traveling with and raising our twin sons. I am in a book club, a writing group and poetry club. I escape the desert heat each July. My favorite weekend is Labor Day when I go to Telluride Colorado for the film festival and see some really inspiring independent films.
Steve is an artist and architect, we work together to make your experience a great one!
