Initially, after seeing the pictures I thought that it could be hard to move in the place. When I got there, it was more spacious than expected! Also, right in the beginning reception service was really good as they really try to cater to whatever your needs are as of the moment.
When I got in the room, it looked well-maintained. Everything was clean. The room is cold; there is good air-conditioning system. However, the lighting in the room may appear dim most especially when you're staying at the side-most bunks. Don't expect personal lamps inside your "boxes". In terms of linens, the sheets as well as the blanket and towel they will provide you are of really good quality. Waaaay more than what you would expect (sometimes even better than linens in some hotels). The bed is really comfortable, so you will not find it hard to get a good sleep.
Overall cleanliness is surprisingly great--from the reception area to the veranda up to the bathrooms. The shower rooms and bathrooms are really clean and well-maintained. They see to it that there is always a hand wash provided. They have hot water, and their heater is of quality also that is more than what you would expect! There is enough space to put your toiletries.
Basically, Box and Ladder does an excellent job to provide everything for your comfort: they have hooks in the room to hang your clothes, they have hooks in front of the bathroom area to hang your towel or possibly dry your clothes, they have a locker inside your bunk, a bench by the terrace of the main floor if you just wanna chill there or smoke. Of course, not to forget (!!!): my favorite area of all--the rooftop.
All in all, I think that the rooftop is an excellent space to chill or mingle with people. It has a really good ambiance and everything is Instagram-worthy. The walls are nicely painted with graphic art, there are homey dining areas, there is a patch of artificial grass where you could just sit on, there is enough area to lie lazily around, there is an easily-accessible kitchen and a television-room. See it for yourself!!! PS: They have beer!!! :P
If you're looking for a really good place to stay, Box and Ladder lives up to being the BEST hostel to spend your time because of the comfort and hospitality that you will get: it's waaay more than what you even pay for. Try the experience for yourselves. It is a really cool place where you would want to stay more than intended. You meet a lot of great people. I actually kinda feel bad we only had two nights here.
