I prefer that you refrain from smoking indoors and no pets if possible.
Marie's house is very cool! It looks just like the pictures, but is even better in the flesh. The bedrooms are really big, light and airy (the attic one has very clever automatic windows in the roof) and the bathroom is fab. Huge sliding windows allow the whole space to be opened up to the breeze. Everything is joined by a feature spiral staircase and, as well as the great art, books and Marie's extensive collection of glass and chinaware, everything else you'll need is there (from fresh towels to an espresso maker). Marie also greeted us with a delicious hamper of local treats (including wine!). Yum! - thank you! The house is not in the centre of the city, but in a quiet neighbourhood with independent shops (including a boulangerie and fish market) very nearby. There's also a supermarket and a couple of local restaurants. And central Bordeaux is only a short (10-15 min) tram ride away. The nearest tram stop is about 1 mile (easily walkable) and (if you aren't up to that) there are plenty of buses, or you can drive and park for free near the tram stop. Parking is also free and very easy right outside the house. Great beaches are between 1 and 2.5 hrs away by car (depending where you choose and the traffic/time of year - we were here in busy August). Ask Marie about the one with the very special market - it's well worth a visit (go there hungry). We loved Marie's house and had a fabulous time in and around Bordeaux. Our only tip: in August, Bordeaux has some mosquitoes (we guess it's the river) so bring some repellant or they will get you! Thank you, Marie :))
