Welcome to the Periwinkle Palace--it's not really a palace, but it really is periwinkle! Guests love this private sunny bedroom with a comfy queen bed, a kitchenette (microwave, hot water maker, coffee maker, dorm fridge, table & chairs), and a private bathroom with shower. The private entrance allows you to come and go at your convenience.
The room is decorated with a rotating collection of artwork from local artists, including photos from our urban homestead garden. We also have an assortment of books and games in the room. We have wireless internet, but no TV in the room. We are an eco-friendly household and we work to create a sustainable environment. We are an urban homestead in progress, with our front yard in full food production. We have 5 chickens (no roosters) and recently started beekeeping (hive is on opposite side of property from the room).
The front yard garden is available for your enjoyment. All photos in the listing are taken from our house and garden. The family home and backyard are not included in the rental.
Our living space is adjacent to, but separate from, the rental. We are an active household with older teens and one quiet small dog. We have shared walls so there may be some filtered sound from our home.
Check-in is anytime after 3pm, if you need earlier, let us know so we can accommodate you. Late check-ins no problem. Please communicate with us your estimated arrival time when you reserve your room--we like to be here to greet guests when they arrive.
We provide fresh-ground organic coffee, an assortment of teas (including from our garden!), hot cocoa, and cream & sugar. We also have a snack basket with items such as oatmeal packets and granola bars to start your day. We are happy to support your dietary needs (gluten-free, vegan, etc), just let us know. There are a number of great coffee shops and breakfast places near by, as well as a great selection of restaurants for lunch and dinner.
We have lived in Eugene for 30 years, so we can give you lots of advice on things to do and places to visit. We are able to frequently work from home, so we are often available if you need anything. We look forward to meeting you and learning about your travels!
A note to new Airbnb users about reservation requests and verifications: If you'd like to request to stay at the Periwinkle Palace, please make sure that you have gone through the verification process and that you've completed your profile, meaning a nice quality photo, your first and last name, and a write up about yourself. And when you inquire about the room, tell me a little more about your travel plans in Eugene. This will help us get to know each other, make sure the space is a good fit for your needs, and will speed up the booking process. Thanks, and welcome to Airbnb!
Please no smoking inside or out, including vapes. Due to allergies, we do not allow pets in the rental. If you plan to have other people visit, please let us know. This is a safe area, however we ask that guests agree to lock their room overnight and any time they leave. We also recommend keeping your vehicles and bicycles locked. The room is not specifically designed for young children (i.e. it's not fully childproofed), but we have no objections to having youngsters here. We only have one queen bed, so if you need additional bedding you will have to provide it yourself.

We are an active family who likes to travel, hike, socialize, garden, play with our 2 small dogs, and also relax and enjoy life. We love adventure and getting to know new places and new people. We've traveled low-budget through Italy twice, and our favorite experiences were when staying in rooms in people's homes and on organic farms. We work in the non-profit and education fields, and have flexible schedules. We both have advanced degrees from the University of Oregon and Tim teaches at both U of O and LCC.
We are fun and friendly and love the magic of traveling, and we are looking forward to helping make your travels in Eugene memorable.
As our family says when traveling, "L'avventura Continua!" (The Adventure Continues!) We hope that we can be a part of your adventure in the wonderful city of Eugene.
