Fantastic location within a 30 second walk of the sands of Grand Anse D'Arlet beach and beach side restaurants! Loved the covered outdoor patio space with flowers, lounge chairs, table and chairs for eating or playing cards and a drying rack. In the back of a building with 3 or 4 units so you walk by neighbors sitting in their patio areas on your way in and out from the gated street entrance (Bonjour!!). No WiFi signal inside this unit, but quick to connect as soon as we stepped out to our patio. Shared outdoor shower to rinse off the sand and your gear. Unit is small and very basic, but it was perfect for my husband, friend and I. Like sharing a budget hotel room.
When you enter the unit there is a double bed, a small table, a small bathroom with shower and a small kitchen with 2 gas burners, fridge/freezer sink and supplies. Also a few shelves and a small clothes rack with hangers under the stairwell that goes up to an open wooden mezzanine level (like a balcony). The mezzanine is above the main bed and includes a low double bed, a few shelves and a clothes rack with hangers. Hot water was plentiful, air conditioning worked great and there is a standing fan on the mezzanine level. Free parking right outside of the gate, but you may need to be a little patient to find a spot. The pedestrian only portion of Avenue Robert Deloy starts within a 30 second walk.
Chantel was extremely fast to reply to all of the questions I had before arriving and always available during via AirBnB messaging; she is very kind and helpful. I used (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Translate to speak with her in French and it went smoothly, but it was helpful to get a copy of the directions from the airport in English;)
Regarding Grand Anse D'Arlet - like a smaller Grand Case, St. Martin. Cute, small, quiet, very French (for Americans), decent beach, not a super touristy area - which is everything we wanted! Loved the live local band that played on Ave. R. Deloy Saturday night, and the live band/popular beach party Sunday night just a 5 minute walk to the other end of the beach (take a flashlight). Nonetheless, noise was not an issue at the unit if you prefer to sleep early (though I live in a big city - so my idea of quiet may be different than yours). My best advice for this area: learn some french, ALWAYS make dinner reservations each morning and hit the grocery store when you turn off the N5 to the D7 from the airport. There is a small market within a 5 minute walk of the unit with wonderful baguettes each morning, but the selection otherwise is minimal.
Merci pour tout, Chantal!!
