In the heart Cape Town's Constantia winelands, just minutes from the country's oldest estates, 10mins to the beaches & 20mins to downtown, you'll find this sequestered, fully equipped, leafy home-from-home on a large quiet neighborhood property with full security & offstreet parking.
With offstreet parking and its very own entrance & security system, our upstairs apartment is completely separate from our home. The views from the bedroom are directly onto the Eastern Slopes of Table Mountain and the leafy garden below provides tranquility to the quiet environment.
The self contained apartment has a large bedroom with a lounge area and a sleeper couch - ideal if you are traveling with a child and need cost effective accommodation. Otherwise it is just a lovely large spacious space for a single person or couple to relax in. There is a separate bathroom and a spacious, fully equipped kitchenette with dining table and all the mod-cons including a gas hob.
Little to no interaction is necessary as the apartment is completely separate, but we are always happy to mix-and-mingle if you would like company at home and a little bit of local input over a glass of wine. We are of course in residence at our own home on the property, as are my parents-in-law who live in our granny-flat downstairs.
We have 2 young boys so we require our guests to be of sober habits, with quiet household activities in the evenings and early mornings. As well as vigilance in the driveway. We can't permit loud music playing and use of the pool is on a request only basis, as it is right in front of the granny flat where my parents in law stay, so we don't like to inconvenience them too much! I have listed laundry services as "available", but the machines are in our own home, not the apartment you'd be staying in. So, we can accommodate laundry & housekeeping services which we can agree upon in your arrival, but as a rule of thumb we work on a basis of load of R100/laundry or R400 for 2 days/week servicing the apartment (incl cleaning, laundry and bed linen rotation)
Unfortunately we do not accept pets to stay and we are a strictly non smoking household. We are quite happy to accommodate children, but if they are young, please be aware that access is via an outside stairway which is not child-protected for young ones.
Cape Town is in the grips of an awful drought so we encourage water saving measures at all time. We will tell you more about this when you arrive.
I just love travelling. And connecting with people. One of my earliest experiences of both of these was in Australia in my early 20s. I sent a postcard to a stranger (well, a connection whom I'd never met) from Thailand saying I'd soon be in his home town. He emailed in return and opened up his home to me for 4 nights. Incredibly, he wasn't there, and to this day I've never met him!!! Years later AirBnB arrives on the scene and I get to pay it forward - open my doors to others wishing to have a home-from-home experience. Yes, nowadays there's a charge involved, but it doesn't mean that the heart isn't warm and the facilities aren't just as comfi and welcoming!
As for me, in addition to travel, I enjoy running, water sports, snow skiing, reading, movies, cooking, and good wine of course. Politics and socio-economics is a passion of mine and you'll often, if not always, find me socializing with family and friends - living life to its fullest enjoyment.
