This is a rural, mid-Island property set against the backdrop of an ecological reserve on beautiful Bowen Island. Majestic evergreens play host to many birds and other creatures, sometimes heard in the still quiet of the night and early morning hours
There are TWO available bedrooms, each equipped with ONE Queen size bed and dressers/closets. The Melina Room has a queen size bed. There is also a queen size bed across the hall for additional guests in the Alicia Room. It is best that both rooms are booked within the same party for the benefits of guest privacy. If both guest rooms are in use, the bathroom will be shared. There is also a pull-out double futon in the Common Room for additional guests. Additional person charges apply.
There are cats in the home, so if you have allergies, please consider your health. The property is also home to three chickens, many fruit trees and several garden beds.
The main floor is not carpeted, so slippers or warm socks are useful.
The guest area does not include cooking facilities, though a small fridge, Foreman grill, and a microwave are provided for use, along with basic dishes and a washing station. There are a number of fine restaurants to enjoy meals, and a number of beaches if a picnic is more to your liking. I'm happy to make recommendations for you.
Eco-friendly, hypo-allergenic products are used for all linens and cleaning.
Please note: ***There are no cooking facilities available for guests other than as provided in the description above***
ALL GUESTS MUST BE REGISTERED. This includes children!
The home is shared with the host. However there is plenty of privacy available. A private sitting room with TV for watching Netflix/DVDs is available for your exclusive use (sorry, no cable). A small fridge and microwave are available, and the room has what you need to enjoy a warm beverage anytime. There is a yoga/exercise room, which also has a stair climber and a treadmill in it for your use. Yoga mats and props are provided and use of all equipment is at your own risk with no formal instruction provided. A hot tub is available for you to enjoy the stars at night, without interference of city lights. Wi-Fi is provided in the house for your portable device.
There is enough privacy available in the house to have your own space, while enjoying my home. I am available to provide you with local recommendations for activities, depending on your preference. I serve a light Continental breakfast for you to enjoy at your leisure, or there are many local restaurants that offer breakfast.
Price is based on room occupancy based on 1-2 guests. Please enquire directly if there are any more than 2 guests. While I am able to accommodate one-night stays throughout the year, I do reserve the right to request a 2-night minimum on long weekends.
Families travelling with babies and children are welcome, but no baby/childproofing measures have been undertaken in the home. Please direct any concerns to the host in advance of arrival. Children are people, and need to be included in the head count for reservations.
Please observe check-in/out times. While I can often be flexible, requests for earlier check-in may be subject to an additional fee. No daytime use of home is permitted prior to agreed check-in time.
Many hosts charge additional fees (cleaning fees, security deposits, etc). I don't, and I trust my guests will treat my home with respect as they would their own.
This is a non-smoking home. Smoking using a receptacle must be outdoors.
I'm sorry I can't accept other pets. Guests may not invite other non-registered guests to the home. There is no access to the kitchen from the guest area. Please be prepared with take-out or dine-out.
As a resident of the island for 20 years, I look forward to sharing my home and community with you. My daughters have flown from the nest leaving a very quiet home that longs for the life and energy of travelling companions. I enjoy music - playing, listening, performing, and regularly host musical events on the island. I love to travel myself, and especially enjoy meeting people in their own environs, and experiencing a place from a local's perspective.
