My much loved apartment in the heart of Lucca centro storico, will provide you with the comfort, practicality and perfect location for your Lucca memories. It neighbours The Walls, Piazza San Frediano and the historic Anfiteatro.
This apartment has been my home within the centro storico (historic centre) and therefore well equipped to provide you with all the comfort you need whilst away from yours. The apartment is newly restored and furnished and is located on ground floor to save the regulatory 300 steps! Also much cooler during the summer months. There are two double bedrooms with a unique mezzanine level in the main room with a bed over looking a private garden. It easily sleeps 5. There is a fully functional kitchen with dishwasher and all modern conveniences, large bathroom with a shower and bath and a smaller bathroom housing the washing machine. Coffee is supplied - Nespresso (with pods to get you started), moka and an American coffee percolator. Heating and air cooling fans are included. The apartment doesn't have air conditioning as I have never needed it being on the ground floor. I utilise the fans which are located in each room if I need them. The apartment is fitted with smart tvs in the lounge and main bedroom, with unlimited wifi.
Location is fabulous. You will find yourselves a stone throw from the walls, Piazza San Frediano, Via Fillungo and the Anfiteatro. During the week, peace and quiet prevails. A great new bar has recently opened near the apartment on the piazza, so Friday and Saturday nights are busy with aperitivi chatter and laughs until about midnight.
The apartment is suitable to most, however the front bedroom is street facing and can be a little noisy on the weekends as mentioned earlier . Please note the mezzanine level if you have toddlers and young children. Arrangements can be made to assist with travel requirements of young people. Just ask!
As a tourist, prepare yourself to have access to the heart and soul of Lucca..
As a guest, you will have access to the apartment and the communal entrance area.
If you are hiring bikes for longer than a day, they will need to be secured outside the building. Bikes are a way of life here and therefore the entrances are generally reserved for residents.
Hopefully I can offer you the best of both situations here. I am not Italian, however have made Lucca my seasonal home. This enables me to offer you the perspective of what I found helpful and necessary for someone traveling to and from Lucca.
Chiara and I manage the apartment. Chiara is an Italian living in Lucca for the last 10 years. For anyone who is interested, she also specializes in teaching Italian to foreign students! Why not organise a lesson or two whilst you immerse yourself in the Lucchese culture? Definitely worth it.

Something to note in Lucca whilst in the buildings is that the mobile reception can be intermittent, dependent on your service provider and location within the apartment. Our buildings are very old with very thick walls. For good mobile signal strength you'll need to be located near the windows. Wifi signal however is fibre optic and very strong inside the apartment, so no problem there.
You will also be provided with an emergency mobile whilst staying in my home. The phone is pre programmed with all necessary numbers and is just to offer you peace of mind whilst on vacation. You will also find maps, hard copy and on tablet and reference books of Lucca and surrounding areas for your use.
The main bedroom offers you bath robes and slippers and a hairdryer is located in the main bathroom.
The rubbish collection must be adhered to at all times and under no circumstances is rubbish to be left in the common area (portico). Rubbish is collected daily in Lucca from the street with military precision and instructions are provided to you on your introduction to the apartment.
As a guest my home is your home. You'll be living amongst local residents so please be respectful and courteous at all times.
The apartment is strictly no smoking and no pets are allowed. The use of candles is prohibited. There is a fire blanket located in the kitchen.
A small first aid kit is located in the main bathroom.
Bicycles are to be secured outside the apartment building at all times unless other arrangements have been made by myself. Make sure your bikes are secure anywhere that you leave them in Lucca!
You will find maps, reference books, a tablet and bluray dvds in the apartment for your use. Please ensure you enjoy them and that they remain in the apartment for other guests to utilize.
Rubbish is collected daily (mornings) and the collection days are detailed on the rubbish bins under the sink. I'm an Australian who lives seasonally in my home in Lucca, Italy. My inspiration for my guests is for them to relax, enjoy and understand their immersion into the Lucchese culture and community. It's been an amazing experience for me personally and I hope the comfort and ease of my home will provide my guests with the same platform to explore their own individual experiences. If you have any questions or requests, just ask me!
