Situated near the tiny, remote village of Ardfield on the Wild Atlantic Way in beautiful West Cork, Seascape Cottage is cute and quirky with panoramic sea views. Part of a barn conversion, the cottage has bags of exposed wood and Irish vintage charm. Ardfield is just 4 rambling miles from the nearby and lively little town of Clonakilty which has loads of restaurants and pubs with live music.
Seascape cottage is part of a barn conversion, next to Holy Well Cottage. It is an upside-down house with an open-plan living space upstairs and two compact double rooms and a shower room downstairs. Upstairs there is a kitchen and sitting/dining space with a log burning stove. There is an adjoining conservatory with views over Rosscarbery Bay and beyond. Attached to the conservatory is a deck with a BBQ and a viewing platform so you can sit outside and enjoy the view! With quirky details, a clutter of books about Ireland and lots of vintage Irish crockery you can have a truly authentic Irish holiday at Seascape cottage.
Seascape cottage has it's own private outside space but there are further seating areas outside Holy Well Cottage overlooking St. James's ancient well. In the summer, this area is a riot of beautiful flowers. The well is surrounded by multi-coloured hydrangeas and you can hear the sound of the babbling brook that flows through it. West Cork at it's beautiful best.
Your hosts, Rosie and Mike, live over the road. They are as quirky as their cottages. Rosie plays bodhran in O'Donovan's Hotel, Clonakilty in a traditional Irish music group. She may give you a lesson if you ask nicely ... or a 'spin' down to 'Clon' so you can enjoy a creamy pint of stout and listen to the music and craic! Mike is a great raconteur and can often be found admiring the flowers with a glass of wine in hand, ready for a chat.
Seascape is a compact cottage. The beds are 4ft beds (romantic eh?). But so far so good ladies and gentlemen ... most people really love it!
