NOTE- 40% OFF WINTER SPECIAL - A delightful, self contained studio with ensuite bathroom, next to a heated pool in the back courtyard of a family home in the heart of Cape Town. A short walk to Table Mountain or trendy Kloof St. An excellent deli nearby for breakfast.
If you want a comfortable, safe, reasonably priced, central place from which to explore the amazing city of Cape Town, then this is the place for you. Read my reviews - people have a good time here. That's how I like it to be.
You can enjoy your privacy but I am very happy to assist you to get the most out of this beautiful city
The UK newspaper readers have voted Cape Town the best city to visit 3 years in a row. National Geographic say we have the second best beaches in the world. Welcome to paradise !
A modern room with a VERY COMFORTABLE king sized bed, feather duvet and double glazed windows. There is a fridge, a microwave and kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a selection of breakfast cereals. There is no kitchen or stove, but there is an EXCELLENT deli with stunning mountain views and delicious food just up the road - the perfect spot for breakfast and for meeting friends. There are 30 bars and restaurants 10 minutes walk in the nearby vibey Kloof St. You are on holiday, you don't want to be cooking !
There is a lovely shower / sink / toilet. Bedside tables, a variety of books about Africa, and an electric hair dryer. A desk with 3.6 Mbps wireless adsl internet with no cap (fibre coming in December 2016). A selection of pamphlets listing things to do in Cape Town. Outside your door there is a heated pool (using solar pipes on the roof) which reaches up to 86 degrees F in Summer, with a hot outside shower. It is very safe and secure.
My house is next to the studio - I am there if you need me, but you have your own privacy. There is a private, gated, seperate entrance on the side of the house. The residential area is extremely classy and safe - I often walk the streets at night without concern.
Park your car right outside on the road - there is plenty of parking. We all do it. There is no risk of the car being stolen.
The room is private with your own gate so you can be totally private should you wish. However, I am only too happy to chat, have a cuppa or glass of wine and to share tips on what to do in Cape Town. There is a friendly old sheepdog in the front of the house - feel free to give her some love as you pass her.
Just up the road is one of the most exclusive residential areas of central Cape Town. Helen Zille, the leader of the Western Cape has her official residence a few hundred metres away. I am perfectly located so that you can be in the city centre within minutes, and have easy access to all of Cape Towns main tourist attractions and beaches, but at the same time, I am away from the noise, crowds, petty crime and pollution that you get in the city centre. The houses around here have an old school charm. In areas like the City Centre, Sea Point, Observatory and even the Clifton beach area, you might come across characters in the street that make you a bit uneasy. That doesn't happen around here. We are in an oasis of calm and civility even though we are a mere 10 minute walk from the city centre.
Stricly no smoking anywhere on the homes premises. It is not the sort of place to bring back guests to - that way we maintain everyone's security, now and in the future. Much better to socialise with friends at the wonderful "Will's deli" just around the corner.
It's a family environment so obviously no loud music or anti social behaviour.
Check out no later than 11 am - Check in preferably after 2 pm (unless prior arrangements are agreed). It is usually no problem to store bags with me in my house for a few hours if you want to come early or leave later.

I love Cape Town, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I'm British but have lived in this amazing city for 20 years. I have travelled the world as a photojournalist but nothing beats Cape Town. I am a creative free spirit - love photography and writing lyrics. Some of my photos hang in the room I rent out. I am well travelled and love the freedom of the open road.
My claim to fame was I got into the Guinness Book of Records when I was a crazy 18 year old for hitch-hiking the 2800 km return journey from Lands End to John O'Groats and back in the fastest time ( 45hrs 35 mins). Also, once when on assignment photographing Ostrich farming in South Africa, I was the first person to ever eat a whole hard boiled Ostrich egg. Yeah, it didn't have a happy ending…
Best book about South Africa - Rian Malan's "My Traitor's Heart". I just saw "War Horse" at the theatre … Amazing. My favourite photo book - "Family of Man".
I offer a lovely, comfortable room to rent in the heart of Cape Town. Roll out of bed and jump into the heated pool - 80 degrees F as I write this.
It is a safe family home. I will show you the secret spots only the locals know about. I love meeting travellers and am happy to chat over a cup of tea or glass of wine.
