An artistic, craftsman-styled home with a new guest room and front porch made for sipping and reading. House streams with light from many windows and skylights/skytubes, yet for those who like dark bedrooms, both of mine have black out shades. Easy 5-20 min. walk to restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, theatre, Hult Center & Farmers' Mkt & 35-45 min. walk to UO (no hills). 2 blks fr bus.
This is an eco-friendly home (bamboo kitchen floor, skylights, tyvex decking, Hardy plank siding, on-demand water heater) where a love of art and books is obvious. Stay in one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Eugene, teeming with breweries and local coffee shops, close to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts and a 5 minute drive to UO. If you like to bike, Eugene is one of the best cities in America to do so! Several flat, fun bike trails begin near my house. Enjoy the Little Free Library in the front yard, where you'll have a choice of books to borrow or just take.
Entry is very easy with a key pad code I'll send you. You'll have the entire house -- master bedroom with a king sized bed, overhead fan, and huge clawfoot tub in the en suite bath. The second bedroom was just added to the house two years ago and has a queen sized bed and made up with quality linens as well as a ceiling fan and window seat. The second bedroom also has an en suite half bath, and there's a separate bath with a shower. This is a vegetarian household (no meat, fish, fowl), and you're welcome to store or cook any vegetarian foods, do laundry, enjoy the front porch with its big chairs and hanging swing, or sit by the gas fireplace and watch the rain beat on the skylight in the living room. (Or perhaps the sun will be shining in...). The dining and living areas are both elegant and comfortable. Every area of the house contains something beautiful to enjoy, from art niches of pottery to shelves of glasswork to huge photos, all with individual lighting so they can be fully appreciated. I'll be easily available via text or a call.
I'm happy to welcome guests and interact as much as you like, or to basically leave you alone -- your choice. I have available lots of information on local places of interest and maps of the UO campus and delight in sharing my extensive knowledge of Eugene. I can point out places to hike and am near great walking/biking paths.
The house is on a quiet street with a small street divider that keeps traffic to a minimum. We have lots of free on-street parking available. A train track does run 5 blocks away, so keep that in mind if you think it would bother you.
Please, no smoking of any kind. I ask people to remove shoes to preserve the wood floors and rugs. No pets are allowed. Please be quiet after 10 p.m.
If you stay three days or more during the summer, I'll ask you to please spend 5-10 minutes a day watering pots of plants, and in exchange you can both enjoy the flowers and pick any tomatoes that ripen!
This is a vegetarian household -- no meat, fish, fowl or eggs. There are numerous great restaurants/pubs/a fabulous patisserie within easy walking.
You're welcome to do laundry, but please, only one or two loads.

Retired literature teacher. Well traveled, speaks decent Spanish. Loves to bike and read and be a grandma. I don't smoke or drink alcohol. Am vegetarian. As a guest, I'm definitely not a party person and appreciate a quiet neighborhood. I can be quiet and unobtrusive or sit around and swap tall tales if you're so inclined.
