There is not enough that I can say about Sanctuaire - it is such a wonderful place. I surprised my sister for her 40th by taking her to wine country in California and Marie helped me pull it all off. The property is beautiful - the photos don't do it justice. You're in a 2-story chalet with a fully equipped kitchen, one bathroom with a roman-style shower, another bathroom with a clawfoot tub positioned in front of two french doors that overlook the property. Water pressure is great. We had 4 people total and were perfectly comfortable (3 beds total).
There are balconies off every room and a large, wrap-around veranda off the main living space. Every balcony and veranda overlook the mountains and the massive in-ground SALT WATER pool. The pool is refreshing, surrounded by a stone patio that starts with a pathway at the house. The property is landscaped with patio lighting, the in-ground hot tub is lighted and also located on the patio. There is also a pond next to the pool, filled with frogs that eat mosquitos! Marie has obviously put a lot of thought and love into this place.
We made dinner as much as we went out. During our stay, California had a heat wave with temperatures over 100F. This is unusual. Even then, the evenings were a cool 60-70F which made for perfect dining on the balcony - overlooking the landscape lighting and listening to nature around us with a delicious bottle of wine.
Don't forget to stay away long enough for an evening hot tub soak! Turn off the hot tub lights to look up at the Milky Way in high definition.
Marie is hospitable, friendly, and genuine. She was one of our favorite parts of our stay. She also gives killer poolside massages! That's right, folks - go wine tasting and come home when it cools off so Marie can bring her massage table to the pool.
One item to note, YOU ARE ON A MOUNTAIN. There are some steep roads that wind and twist so be prepared! It's a gorgeous ride.
Sanctuaire is incredible. Have a wonderful time!
