We always stock fresh orange juice, bananas and oranges for our guests, as well as oatmeal, tea, instant coffee, and other nice breakfast items for a great start to your day.
For those of you who desire, we happily have a glass of red wine waiting for you when you arrive.
In your room you will find bottled water, Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies and York Peppermint Patties for your enjoyment.
You will love this ‘Home Away from Home,’ a private room in an apartment, for all of your travel needs…:-)
This is a beautiful newly finished unit with plenty of room and sunlight, and we are always upgrading and adding art, décor and little touches to our rooms.
Your bedroom features a comfy new queen-sized bed and huge dressers and closets with ample space.
Your bathroom is fully stocked with fresh towels, blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream, cotton balls/rounds and Q-tips, moisturizer, make up remover, and more. Forgot your toothbrush? No problem, we have you covered.
Your kitchen is fully equipped to prepare all of your meals. The living room – which looks onto a beautiful green courtyard full of aromatic plants -- is designed for tip top beach fitness preparation including a Concept 2 rowing ergometer, Versaclimber, weights and a Personal Trainer/Strength and Conditioning coach on-site for your fitness needs.
From there you’re off to a long day on Santa Monica Beach, international shopping and dining on Montana Avenue or at the Third Street Promenade, giving it your all on the Santa Monica Stairs, or the Santa Monica Farmer's Markets on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings. And don’t forget the finest restaurants and night life.
Your vacation home is located in one of the most desirable areas in Santa Monica, 4 blocks from everything, between Idaho and Montana Avenues.
For your internet needs, there is a NETGEAR N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router delivering high performance. With a combined speed of up to 600Mbps (simultaneous Dual Band 300 + 300Mbps) and 50MB per second download speed on hard wire and over 30MB per second on WIFI (your average home has 2 to 10MB), and mobile phones clocking in at 15MB per second, the internet is incredibly FAST and we have your needs covered. You will be very happy surfing the net at your ‘home away from home.’
Public transportation will take you just about anywhere in Los Angeles. And your ‘Home Away from Home’ is also supplied with beach chairs and beach towels for your convenience.
Here is some general information that should help…;-)
Santa Monica Update - You will need to comply with all Santa Monica laws and codes and all management rules and regulations for proper roommate criteria that they submit to us. We will handle that for you directly with management so that we work together for a code compliant, smooth and seamless stay for you as our roommate.
1. Arrival is anytime after 3, but if you let us know in advance, we will gladly arrange for you to drop off your luggage and pick up your keys between 10 am and noon.
2. We are normally 100% booked and need to respect our departing guests’ space and privacy on their check out morning, thus earlier access is not possible.
3. This is a private building and the neighbors cannot help you, are not involved and do not want to be contacted.
4. Please call us directly for access, as it’s a secure building, unit and room; and the exterior building intercoms have been disconnected in order to not disturb any guests in attendance.
5. Guests typically call when they arrive in Los Angeles or land at LAX, and call by phone -- not intercom -- when they are out front so that we let them (you) in, meet you, greet you and give you a tour and get you your keys…;-)
6. Lastly, note that we set aside noon to three (12:00 – 3:00) to complete room turn over and cleaning, and go off site to get fresh fruit for our guests, grocery store runs, maybe see a dentist, get a haircut or a fake tan -- since we never actually see the sun anymore -- and pretend that we have a life after 500+ guests in this last year and nearly 100% occupancy... hahaha
Elise and Archer are just a phone call away. They will be handing you your keys, greeting you in person, giving you all the information that you need for your stay, and making sure that you have fresh towels and that all of your travel needs are met so that you can just relax and enjoy your stay…:-)
Bicycle rentals are available for $20/each per day! Ask for details.
There is a Professional Personal Trainer / Strength & Conditioning Coach that is a Nutritionist on site available for different packages and rates to get you beach ready!
There's free parking in front of the building, as well as in the residential neighborhood four blocks north of Montana on 4th. Parking on Montana Avenue is also free one block west of 4th Street on Montana Avenue and the three blocks immediately east.
Are based based on weekly rentals only, if the reservation is for more that a week, additional weekly cleaning charges will apply.
Here is the dreaded “small print.” Don’t worry, its not so bad (insert smile), and are in place in order to make your stay the best one possible and allow Air BnB to thrive in Santa Monica problem-free…:-)
SMALL PRINT (Imagine a theatrical “pom pom pom” on the piano as we say this. It makes it more movie-like and less menacing…grab onto your seats!)
A. Please do not disturb the neighbors or other building occupants at any time.
B. For your convenience, we have people nearby or on-site at almost all times, day or night, for your keys and unit entry (please do not disturb other residents for keys or access – thanks).
C. We are FULLY licensed and permitted, BUT PLEASE DO NOT discuss, ask about, say by name, or interact with others about Air BnB, especially not in front of the building, when arriving or departing or while on mobile phone on the property or street.
Regrettably, the cities New York, San Francisco and Santa Monica are anti-Air BnB and aggressively taking measures to try and stop it, including incentivizing any and all residents. And, Santa Monica has some SERIOUSLY CRAZY residents (think Mrs. Kravitz on ‘Bewitched’), with seriously nothing better to do than to call the city and complain all day long, every day (read ‘have no life’) about Air BnB guests and hosts. The less openly discussed, the better for everyone involved. Similarly, please ask about ‘departure or arrival,’ not ‘check-in or check out.’ THANKS!

D. Please, return the keys to us or the designated return spots (typically, on your nightstand or key hook). There is a $75 lock change fee that will be automatically charged to your deposit the same day (two door locks top and bottom) for the non-return of keys. This fee will be refunded if the keys are returned via expedited carrier within two days.
E. Please be quiet in the building common areas. Contact Sterling with any concerns.
F. No guests are allowed in the swimming pool area or swimming pool as it is only for the building permanent resident’s usage.
G. Please, there is no smoking in the unit, building or balconies, or in front or behind the building.
• Let me clarify, ‘no smoking,’ means ‘no smoking,’ not ‘can I smoke on the balcony or patio, outside the door, in the bathroom, in front or behind the building, in the kitchen,’ because it’s still ‘no.’ Please do not ask.
• Smoking marijuana is still smoke, so ‘no,’ you can’t smoke that either, it’s smoke, and we will smell it and fine you $75.
H. Please DO NOT KEEP FOOD IN THE BEDROOMS, nor discarded food -- e.g., banana peels, apple cores, chip, etc. -- in the trash bins (flies and ants aren't your friends).
I. Kitchen Rules
• There is NO PREPPING OR COOKING OF SHELLFISH of any kind, especially shrimp, in the unit. There is an additional $100 cleaning fee if this is not followed (Stinky! Would you want to come after that?).
• NO COOKING of fragrant foods such as Sauerkraut or kimchi
• NO HOT OIL COOKING whatsoever (there will be an additional $99 cleaning fee).
• When using the stove, YOU MUST be at the stove at all times NOT start the stove or steam pot and go take a shower. You MAY NOT LEAVE THE STOVE UNATTENDED for any reason whatsoever and this should fall under the ‘duh’ category, because of potential to start a fire or burn other guests and/or your host (yes, it hurts a lot as I found out) and it has happened. Don’t do it!
• To reiterate the above, there is NO MAINTAINING AN UNATTENDED HOT OR STEAM POTS ON THE STOVE WHATSOEVER. This rule came after a personal trip to the emergency room after that occurred, and God’s wrath will come if you attempt to repeat the process, as well a $99 base fine AND an EMERGENCY ROOM FEE of $1,000
J. Please do not bring so much contents that it requires a U-Haul or truck to move in. There is no transitional living and you may not store furniture or sell furniture from the unit. This will incur a $250 penalty, immediate eviction or both. (Feel free to ask about this, it’s a funny story…)
K. Please do not leave ANYTHING whatsoever in halls for any period of time (e.g., shoes, sandals, luggage, gift bags, groceries, shopping, strollers, beach items, beach chairs, towels, children's toys, toddlers, children's vehicles, visiting friend's stroller, cribs [hey, don’t laugh, it happened – large crib with tricycles, balls and more... It looked like nursery meets a playground in MY HALL that inspired my neighbors to share all their beautiful pictures with me via text at the concert that I had to immediately leave... Doh!], or bags, anything whatsoever. I think that was every example imaginable…) neighbors will literally complain IMMEDIATELY. (Yes, this one is funny story too…)
I suppose I should say “PLEASE DON’T SET THE PLACE ON FIRE” too, but I’m thinking that one is implied.
• Then again, read about the steam pot and my emergency room trip…sigh.
• Then again, I though that about the U-Hual…LOL
L. Last but not least, THE GOLDEN RULE (An Anglo expression, for our foreign guests that means “do unto others as you would want done unto you.’).
To paraphrase Cyndi Lauper, ‘we all want to have fun,’ but we are a tranquil space best suited and created for business travelers, holiday vacations, beach trips and family getaways, not ‘audible romantic endeavors, amorous marathons and cardiovascular achievements’ if you understand our meaning, and request that you always be courteous of your neighbors and flat mates or be asked to depart early.
To put it simple, if you were trying to get rest, had a 5am surf call, alone on business in need of sleep, with your kids or had an early morning meeting, would you want to hear that?
See, “that was easy.” No, our rules were easy, not shopping at Staples (insert smile, apologies to our foreign guests who don’t have Staples commercials. It would seem mildly funnier…).
