Whisperin Palms is a great location for a holiday in Vanuatu. We booked both villas so we had the whole place to ourselves which was fantastic. There is great reef for snorkelling right out front of the villas and we saw heaps of sea life there, including sea turtles, clown fish, crate sea snake and heaps of amazing coral and fish. Kayaks were great to paddle around in and there is a good spot for swimming just a five minute walk down the beach. The villas were equiped with just about eveything you need. I suggest taking plenty of drinking water and your own snorkelling gear as the ones supplied weren't the best. Local buses are a great way to get around but ask how much before you get in and haggle with them as they tend to really overcharge tourists. Locals are very, very friendly and helpful. Be careful of the local shop as he really overcharged us compared with what you can buy things for at the supermatkets in Port Villa and fresh produce markets. Buy up big before you travel out there, especially alcohol. You can't buy alcohol after 12 noon on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays. I would not recommend the Wahoo bar, unless you're desperate for alcohol on a Sunday as they will sell it, they were overpriced for the size of their portions and quality of the food. The Orovy Beach restaurant was good and the Havannah resort restaurant. Overall we had a great time there, Silvi and John were very friendly and helpful. We just wish we had stayed for longer.

Staying in the beach house for four nights was just not long enough! The location, although a bit of a bus ride to get there from Port Vila, was well worth it. The caretakers John and silviri take wonderful care of the property and us as guests. It was very special getting to know them and ther village better. A wonderful experience.

We escaped from the cold city to find peace at the beach house. It was lovely! John and Silvie were so helpful. The weather was amazing, and the natural environment is stunning. This is a chance to experience the real vanuatu! Warning: if you don't enjoy bugs this may not be the place for you! But we had plug-in mosquito repellant which helped a lot.

Hi Rachel thank you for your review and I certainly love the natural environment. Currently I am in the process of getting quotes for screening and roof upgrades for better mozzie protection! Hopefully this will all be implemented by Christmas and thank you for your comments. Kind regards Tina

WOW this place is so gorgeous!! The sunrise alone is enough to take your breath away, but the comfort and style of these cabins are just perfect. It was so easy to get up there, we organised a bus driver from Siviri Village (Daniel) to come get us and take us shopping and drop us there, so easy!! The cabin with the internal stairs is just perfect for a family of four, we had three upstairs and one down. The kitchen is very useable and the bathroom is awesome. It's a treat to get a hot shower and have a comfortable bed in Vanuatu, so top points for those. The village next door was very welcoming and John and Silvi, the caretakers, are the highlight of staying, Silvi is such a character and is clearly loved by the community. And John is very helpful and friendly. This place is paradise, no more words to be said, except that the snorkelling and use of the kayaks is unreal, right out front your door too.

Hi Rachel, We are so pleased you enjoyed Whispering Palms. It is very easy to get around and we have done up a new compendium which has an array of transport options to make it even easier. It certainly is paradise in our opinion as well and Silvi and John are the love of Siviri and very well respected. We hope you can stay again some time. Warm regards.

The location was absolutely wonderful! A peaceful, private beach area out front where the ocean was clean and beautiful. The locals are delightful people and always ready with advice or to offer help. John and Silvi (caretakers) are wonderful people and always available to help you out with anything you need.

OK - what a great location. It's nice and remote - yet only 40 odd minutes drive from port villa (we saw no other people on the beach in front of the house except for locals - noting we went in February which is part of the off season). I know I am a tourist but it's lovely not to see others ! The other reviews do Marcel's place justice - so I will write (from the perspective of a couple in their 40's who stayed) what I think a couple should do who is planning on visiting this island. (This is my tip for people who have never been to vanuatu before.) 1. Book Marcel's place (the boat house) for a week (or more) 2. First spend one or two nights in port vila so you can get an understanding of the culture and load up on supplies for your stay at Marcel's (plus hire a car). World Car Hire was relatively good value. 3. While the seasonal local produce is great and good value the rest of the 'food' story (in our experience) on the island was poor and expensive. SO buy a heap of great local produce from the Port vila's open market. Find a great butcher (the beef is excellent and mostly grass fed organic). You can buy fish from the locals near Marcel's and that's a fun adventure in itself. There are also super markets in Vila - so grab some good french wine - which is reasonably priced as is the beer. Buy a local woven basket at the markets as well - they are hand made and worth it (plus locals make them) - that way you should not need to use plastic bags. This is an island paradise - it does to need any more plastic - as I'm sure you'll agree when you spot some of it in the water or on the beaches (not too much but any is too much in our humble opinion) 4. I recommend an esky (or maybe Marcel has one - we didn't ask but took own own). The esky is perfect for day trips - so you can have icy cold coconuts, water, beer, fruit, and keep food fresh etc - this way you save and ensure you have what you want to eat and won't be disappointed. For example we went to the restaurant at the 5 start resort "The Havannah " which is around 15 minutes drive from Marcel's - it's a beautiful place and the coffee we ordered was OK to good - so we then ordered an entrée each - OMG mine (vietnamese fried rice with veggies) was inedible and my partner forced hers down (organic veggie salad) so as not to appear rude (there was eve a hat rotten bean in it) So go there for the amazing view and coffee - and order food if you will - maybe they were having a bad day - but it...
