This beautiful Capitol Hill historic row home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths (Nov. 2015) a quiet street only 1 block from the Eastern Market Metro. Fully equipped kitchen, private patio, self-contained suite in basement, and kid-friendly amenities.
The location of this beautifully maintained Victorian-era home could not be better for a stay in Eastern Market - no exaggeration! Tucked back on a quiet street, yet only STEPS to the metro and some of the best shopping and eating the Hill has to offer.
With four full bedrooms (one a separate guest suite in the basement - with inside access to the upper floors) plus a sofa pull out in the main area that can be shut off from the rest of the home for privacy, this house comfortably accommodates groups up to 10 people. Please inquire if you'd like to include additional people.
It doesn't get more "DC" than this house in this location.
Pick up a bike-share and ride down to the National Mall, ride the metro line straight home from the Smithsonian after a long day of sight-seeing, walk to the Capitol building and the Library of Congress in mere minutes, meander down Barracks Row and choose from a selection of some of the city's best restaurants, or simply shuffle half a block down to the weekend flea market and pick up some fabulous local art or jewelry.
You can really experience the hill like a local and then retreat into a recently-renovated, clean and inviting space, full of all the amenities you could hope for.
A key-pad entry allows us to change the code for each new group. We will text and e-mail this code prior to your stay.
This is a private unit in a classic row-house. We were operating it as two separate unit but beginning in November 2015 we are combining them for a large home that can easily sleep 10+.
Please note: This house is not a good fit for people with mobility issues. The only way to access the house is via stairs and the only showers/tubs are on the second-level and basement of the home and they may pose a challenge for some to get in/out of. Contact us if you have questions.
Interaction is only when needed. However, we would love to talk if you would like and we are happy to answer any questions you may have about the area, which we still call home. We also appreciate you letting us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay on Capitol Hill more comfortable.
One guest pass allowing for street parking is available during your stay. Additional passes can be obtained for a fee.
1. Take care of the house: We consider ourselves the caretakers of this beautiful 130-year-old home. It was in the same family for many generations and was well-loved. The doors, moldings, and even some glass in the home is original. We lived happily here as a family for many years, and we ask that you please help us care for it during your stay. No smoking is allowed.
2. Take care of the neighbors: Please be courteous to our wonderful neighbors (who happen to be friends.) This is row-house living and as such, you should expect to hear your neighbors on occasion and they will appreciate it if you exercise courtesy.
3. Take care of yourselves: As with any large city, petty crime is not unheard of. Please don’t leave valuables in your car, and we recommend that you exercise common sense when out-and-about (examples: keep a tight hold on cell phones, especially in crowded places such as the market and metro stations, and always pay attention to your surroundings.)
A complete "Guest Manual" with systems info, Wi-Fi connectivity details, local recommendations, and check-in/out procedures will be in the house upon arrival.
