We are welcoming and respectful of your privacy. We are happy to help you decide on some fun things to do during your stay, such as visits to the Great Barrier Reef, Islands, Daintree, Tablelands, Kuranda or anywhere else nearby.
Cairns is a fantastic small tropical city to live and visit. It is filled with loads of day activities, great restaurants and a fun nightlife. We live close enough to the city, esplanade and waterfront lagoon for swimming for you to walk or ride our free bikes or it is a short $10 taxi ride.
We are very respectful of the environment and recycle as much as possible. Cleaning products are non toxic to you or the environment. We love animals and have a dog, cat, chickens, loads of fish and a worm farm. Our new exciting addition is a beehive! It is situated well away from the house behind a screen so are very safe. We are in the process of creating an edible, permaculture garden :)
As I work from home as a massage therapist, Reiki master and beautician if you would like to book any treatments with me whilst you are here please let me know.
Please shut the gate when you enter or leave the property. We have animals, a dog, Maliina and chickens who we love very much and we don't want them getting hurt or lost.
We ask that our guests are tidy of the common areas and respectful of others who are staying in the house. There is no smoking or candles inside as it is a wooden house. We also ask that you are considerate of the environment and turn off lights and appliances when not in use.
Use of bikes is free. If there is damage to the bike or it is lost or stolen we will take this from your bond money held with AirBnb.

Hi, my name is Emma. I have lived in Cairns for the last 11 years, and it is the third time I have lived here. I love to travel and have travelled extensively around Australia, Asia, North and South America and Europe. Each time I come back to Australia I end up back in Cairns. I love living up here with its tropical, laid-back lifestyle.
I am a massage therapist, Reiki master and beautician who works from home. For me this is my ideal job where I am able to help other people in a relaxed, calm environment.
My partner, Nico is originally from France but now calls Australia home. He is also an avid traveller and we try to go on as many trips together as possible. He has recently changed careers and is now working in the retail industry. Nico is a keen cyclist. This year he competed in his second half ironman and is considering doing it again next year.
When you book to stay in Mateika, 1,2 or 3 or 4 you will be able to appreciate our permaculture garden or urban farm on our inner city block.
Recycling, using natural products, keeping our carbon footprint low are our goals.
In our apartment, Mateika on the Esplanade, we keep to the same ideals. Natural products are used. We encourage our guests to recycle and be mindful of electricity usage to also help keep down their carbon footprint.
We enjoy meeting people and hearing about their travel adventures. We look forward to hosting you in Cairns and sharing our beautiful home, Mateika, or our Luxury apartment, Mateika on the Esplanade.
With peace, love and harmony,
Emma and Nico
