Rustic Get-Away 35 miles SE of Moab, Utah in the foothills of the La Sal Mountains: Hiking, Biking, 4 Wheeling, Snowmobiling, Fishing and Hunting, or just relaxing....our completely furnished 3 bedroom mobile home in La Sal, Utah sleeps 8.
This is a unique Rustic Get-Away that's located 35 miles SE of Moab, Utah at the base of the La Sal Mountains. It's close enough to Moab to drive in and enjoy the variety of festivities offered in a small town environment, yet far enough away to enjoy the a variety of activities in a Mountain Setting such as hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, or just relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of a city.
Our "Rustic Get-Away" is an older 3 bedroom Mobile Home that was our family "cabin" for many years before making La Sal our home. It is Cozy, Clean and Comfortable, and to us, feels like "Home". It's furnishings and decor are eclectic and old fashion, including a few antiques and many original oil and water color paintings by the owner, Larry Christensen. If you're looking for a High End Resort with a swimming pool and tennis courts, this isn't for you! But if you want all the comforts of "Home" in a rural setting with a view that compares to none, wildlife everywhere, and a medicinal quiet that is hard to find, we think you'll love it as much as we do! And...........we don't charge High End Resort prices!
This area has numerous National Forest and National Park lands to explore and recreate in. The variety of mountain and desert land is breathtaking, and this Rustic Get-Away with all the comforts of home is the perfect location to see it all!
We are 35 miles South East of Moab in the town of La Sal. There is a small local store with one gas pump about 10 minutes west the mobile home (hours of operation vary, closed on Sundays). There is also a Post Office located next to the store.
We live next door, however we do have busy lives aside from Hosting, and won't always be home when our guests arrive. When we are not going to be home when guests arrive, or during their stay, we will let them know, and give them all or our contact info to make sure they can reach us by phone or email. Whether we're home or not, we always make sure the Trailer is prepared for our guests arrival with a Welcome Sign on the front door with their names on it so so they'll know they're in the right place, the Porch Lights on, and Keys in the Lockbox on the porch door. We respect our guests privacy and won't be intruding, but if we're home and guests want to meet us, we are always happy to get acquainted!
Please remember that we are "Rural", located at the base of the La Sal Mountains. There is a small local store with one gas pump in La Sal (hours of operation vary, closed Sundays), so it's a good idea to buy groceries and gas before driving in. Below are the Driving Directions and Check-In/Arrival Information. We don't have Cell/Text/GPS service in the area, so please print the Driving Directions so you'll have them when you drive into La Sal. If you need to reach us please call our home phone, if you can't reach us there, try our cell (we may be away from our house). If we are home, we will not receive cell calls or text messages, so please don't rely on texting us....either email or call us. The trick to finding us is......print the directions and bring them with you!!!

We Can't Allow Smoking inside the Trailer or on the Porch, and We Can't Allow Pets. We deal with Guests who have allergies to smoke, pet odor and pet hair (as we do), and cleaning the odors and pet hair out of the furniture and carpet is difficult, and cleaning up pet droppings outside presents additional challenges. If Guests do smoke outside, please do not leave cigarette remains on the property grounds, please dispose of properly.
Also, please remember we are Located at the Base of the Mountains, not in a big city. We provide Very Specific Driving Directions, that when followed, leads our Guests right to the front door. We Cannot Offer Refunds for Guests who later tell us they couldn't find our rental. Our 5 Day Cancellation Policy is Firm. We work very hard to make sure our Guests have the Driving Directions, and ask them to Print Them Out so they will have access to them when they no longer have Cell/GPS service on the Mountain Roads. Most of our Guests realize it is their responsibility to make sure they have the Directions before driving into the area, and that we, as Hosts have done our part by providing Directions. We want to accommodate our Guests as much as we can, and one of the ways we do that is by emailing Specific Driving Directions and Area Info to each of our Guests long before they arrive.
Our hope is that our "Rustic Get-Away" will be a clean and cozy place that our Guests can relax in, enjoy the Mountain Setting, and want to return to! We love it here, and are excited to share this area with our Guests! Our Rental Agreement is below:

My wife, Kathy, and I live in La Sal next door to our rental. I am an Artist with an MFA, studied and taught at BYU and UVU in Provo Utah. We've had this property for many years, while we lived and worked in the Provo area. We used our 3 bedroom mobile home as our family vacation cabin. Two years ago, we built our new home here and moved to this beautiful mountain land that we've enjoyed for many years. My wife is from Moab, and her dream was to come back to this area. She recently retired after a long career with the National Forest Service, and I am a freelance artist, and continue to paint, draw and teach in the Moab/La Sal area. Now that we have our home here, we want to share our cabin and the area with visitors. We are available most of the time, and love people and enjoy their company.
Our life motto is let us live by the side of the road, and be a friend to man.
This area is so diverse....you can be in the National Parks desert land one minute, a few minutes later be on a raft trip on the Colorado River, and a short drive from that you can be in the National Forests in the Mountains. The variety of activities include River Rafting, Hiking, Biking, 4-wheeling, Snowmobiling, Cross Country Skiing, Rock Climbing, and enjoying the countless year round Moab events and festivities. We have dreamed of living here on a permanent basis so I could continue with my art, and my wife could come home. We love it here, and have been told by many visitors that we should rent our cabin out because it is so warm and inviting. It's completely furnished with all the comforts of home, including a completely stalked kitchen with new appliances and laundry room with washer and dryer. The eclectic décor includes overstuffed furniture with pillows and throws, antiques, and a collection of my original oil paintings. While the outside isn't fancy, the inside is welcoming and cozy, with a screened in porch to relax and enjoy the view. We look forward to meeting new friends and sharing this wonderful area with them. Our home and cabin is located one mile from the Manti-La Sal National Forest. We can drive an ATV from our front door to the nearest lake in 20 minutes. We love it here because it is the life style we've dreamed of.....secluded enough to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough to Moab to run into town for dinner, groceries or a movie.
It's a great place we hope to share with others!
