Host was nice enough but poorly organized. 1. Obtaining apartment key info changed a few times up till on the day of arrival, not a comfortable experience for a first timer. 2. Informed us the day before arrival the apartment cleaner was unable to come. Said it was quite clean anyway. Reality: was tidy-ish, but clean, far from it. Contacted host who we knew was overseas and possibly unable to sort issue out within Airbnb's Resolve 24 hour complaint window. Provided pics and description. We're given immediate permission to have apartment cleaned (and reimbursed). Airbnb were great and on it. Requested a refund from host for only the first 2 nights spent in unfit place. Note: 4 unfit nights were actually spent however due to a previous change of stay from 14 to 12 nights (five days prior to arrival) we thought it would be a good will gesture towards the host. The reason for this: The host 'accepted' the date changes request and so 'lost' out on 2 nights money. He had not realized this would be the case (neither had we till after the fact) and consequently later blamed us for this too. Host sent back messages describing his frustrations with us and the entire situation. His manner in this situation was rude and ungracious. (Perhaps not usually like this in general?). Accused us of expecting 'hotel standards' and paying for only half of what he expected towards his rent owned. Airbnb granted our 2-night refund request instantly. Apartment Suitability: No dryer (but had a clothes drying rack). Couch material peeling off into little bits despite throw rug. No toaster (just so you know). Towels and bedding were washed however were old and a bit scrappy. On a scale of zero to feeling like we were in someone's place, it's was level 9000 with perishable food left in fringe and overly personal items left around. Also be warned that the 500m walk from the beach back to the apartment is up a decent hill (but great work out for the legs). A nice little view from the balcony too.

Just in response to the comments above, I am only doing this for future guests who may wish to stay in the apartment; 1, I had informed the guest on multiple occasions that I was waiting to hear from a friend as to their availability to drop the key off, so please be patient and I would keep her up to date. There was no problem accessing the apartment. 2, I spent 6 hours cleaning the apartment, somehow the guest managed to find a cleaner who cost $120 to clean an already clean 1 bedroom apartment. 3, My manner was in reaction to the guests offensive and demanding remarks regarding the apartment. An insight to her communication was 5 text messages one morning between 5-8am, demanding various actions from me. 4, The sheets were less than 1 month old, and the 8 available towels approximately 3-6 months old. 5, The whole point of Airbnb is that you are staying in someones place!? 6, 500m walk up a hill worthy of a warning? 7, Totally unclear TV instructions? Point proven in relation to anal attitude, it's a TV. I am on Airbnb to use and share the places of like minded people, and this is the first negative comment I have received in 3 years. I am 100% in agreement with valid complaints, particularly in relation to cleanliness, however my opinion on this matter is that the individual guest is better suited to a hotel, where they employ full time managers to deal with various complaints. Hi guys, I'm a business owner and professional who works in the city. This Xmas I have my family from the UK coming to stay so we are renting a large house together in the area.
Unfortunately my last review wasn't great, and it is the largest and most recent, so it stands out on my profile!
I don't feel it is a fair reflection of the place, it's a great spot and I am a pretty chilled guy. I've lived here 3 years and I love the place and the area.
Looking forward to hosting some cool people over the festive period :-)
