Stay in 2nd largest home in Kanab! About an hour from scenic parks. "Girly Room" is pink, red, etc with flowers and its own, private bathroom. Nice view, queen size bed and individual size, small futon. SHARED access to kitchen (bring groceries)
We are 5-star SuperHosts who can't wait to meet you! Most common compliments are that guests felt warmly welcomed into our clean and spacious home and that they enjoyed the community feel of interacting with other guests. This makes us happy!
Most common complaint: "I wish I had booked for more days!"
When you visit us, you stay in the 2nd largest home in Kanab on 3 acres with nothing but open country and spacious views behind. We call it the "Burro Flats High Desert Lodge."
There is A PRIVATE BATHROOM in the room. The door to your bathroom is inside your room. No one else will have access to your bathroom.
We provide GREAT, fast wifi connection throughout the house. Cell phone service is also reliably good (except Sprint users often have trouble).
Kanab is such a popular travel destination because it's centrally located to all local, scenic areas including:
Zion - 1 hour drive
Bryce - 1 hour 20 minutes drive
Grand Canyon (North Rim) open May 15-Oct 15 - 1 hour 20 minutes drive
Lake Powell / Page / Horseshoe Bend - 1 hour 15 minutes drive
Best Friends Animal Society - 20 minutes drive
The "Girly Room" shown here is next to and shares a wall with our "Cowboy Room." The door to this room also leads to the common hallway. Which means that incidental noises may be audible even when everyone observes the 10pm at night quiet time house rule. If you need to be in absolute silence or if it is bothersome to have to be very quiet after 10, then you might be more comfortable in another household.
Crickets chose the decor for this one (pink, flowers, garden...)!
The room contains a queen sized bed (with memory foam topper!) that can easily sleep 2 people. It also has a small, SHORT, individual sized futon sofa sleeper that is 67 inches (170 cm or 5 feet, 7 inches) long (in other words, if you are much taller than 5 feet tall, then you'd have to bend your knees and couldn't stretch out fully). The futon is very well made and stable and would be great for ONE small person (or a taller person who doesn't mind curling up to sleep).
Please let us know in advance whether you plan to use the futon and we will gladly make it into a mini bed for you with extra padding, fresh, 100% cotton sheets (in PINK gingham, of course!), comforter, fluffy pillow and an accent quilt that was made by our sister-in-law just for the room! We love to prepare for visitors! :)
Note: We are constantly improving, so exact decor and furniture arrangement is subject to change and may differ somewhat from the photos.
Take advantage of the large, furnished common areas including fully outfitted kitchen (we provide some essentials such as cooking oil, spices, coffee and some condiments and you'll want to bring your own groceries), living room with large screen cable TV, pool table and covered, outdoor balcony with patio table and chairs, electrical outlets, gas BBQ grill and sunset views.
Girly Room guests have their own bathroom with privacy door, right in the room (en suite bathroom). There is a shower (no tub), toilet and sink.
For convenience, there is an additional half bath (toilet and sink) downstairs on the main floor. Each guest has privacy while they are taking their turn in this bathroom.
Our home has been described as either a Bed & Breakfast with a very minimal, DIY breakfast, or like a super nice hostel where guests sleep in their own rooms. :)
We live in the lower level of the three level house, with private kitchen, bathroom and living quarters. So guests will mostly only see us at check in, check out, if they have any questions, or occasionally in the common areas of the house. We're here if you need us; otherwise, we'll maintain a respectful distance.
We welcome friendly, responsible guests of all ages, language, culture, heritage and lifestyle.
You will most likely be interacting with other guests in our home during your stay; this is a welcoming, social and friendly environment.
Only 5 minutes drive to Kanab city center with delicious restaurants, fully stocked grocery stores and friendly office of tourism.
There is free parking everywhere in town and also on our property. It is very different here from city life! :)
NO SMOKING, pets, candles or fireworks anywhere on property, inside or outside, and no guests inside the donkey field (petting through the fence is okay).
QUIET HOURS start at 10pm (sound travels in our large house, even through doors and walls, because of the hardwood floors and open floorplan). So please after 10pm at night, no TV, pool, banging of pots and pans in the kitchen, loud talking or laughing, music, etc.).
Please help us protect our space by leaving your shoes inside the front door, using drink coasters under beverages and closing windows when you leave to explore for the day. Thank you! :)
Rowdy play, running, jumping, sports or rough-housing outdoors only, please. Guests responsible for damage.
Please do not park in or block small, concrete driveway or garages. FREE GUEST PARKING is the gravel rock driveway in front of the house.
This room shares a wall with the Cowboy Room and the entire house carries sound, so please only bring children who are capable and willing to observe our quiet times. Crying or other noise for more than a few minutes or in the middle of the night would be too disruptive.

Hi! We're Nicholas & Celeste Meyeres, and our home that we share with visitors is Burro Flats High Desert Lodge! We adore the Southwestern high desert, nature, wildlife and meeting new people!
Nicholas is our hospitality expert (before welcoming guests full-time in our home, he was a manager at a top rated country club in Kansas for 6 years, then the Hospitality Services manager for 10 years at Best Friends Animal Society)!
Celeste is a knits designer who has created over 6,000 scarves, throw blankets, etc by hand: Including a shawl for Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. She owns CricketsKnits (ask if you're curious to see her "yarn dungeon" basement studio during your stay!).
In 2013 we bought a huge home on 3 acres with nothing but open country and spacious views behind (and GREAT wifi connection!).
This home and location makes us feel so happy and free and that is why we love to share it with visitors :)
We live in the downstairs of the three level house (the 2nd largest in Kanab), with separate kitchen, bathroom, et cetera, so you'll mainly only see us at check in and check out (when we welcome you and then when we say "Bon voyage, see you next time!") Unless, of course, you'd like to ask questions, get directions or just chat; we're here for you at *your* level of comfort. :)
We welcome responsible, easy-going guests of all ages, language, culture, heritage and lifestyle.
Unless you reserve the entire upper two floors, you will most likely be interacting with other guests in our home during your stay; this is a friendly and social environment with everyone being considerate and cohabiting peacefully. Our home has a sort of super nice hostel feel, or like a B&B except with a DIY, bare-bones breakfast. :)
