We do have one other guestroom in the house that you will be sharing common areas with. My mother is always on the premises. I'm usually there weekday mornings or weekends making some quick repairs or organizing. We try to create a homely atmosphere where everyone is treated like family. I will always offer you a cup of coffee when you're a guest.
Unless you have already confirmed with us, we cannot check you in before 4pm.
They say the problem about common sense is that it is not too common. A couple basic rules:
1- No loud music on weekdays.
2- Smoking (cigarettes/cigars) is allowed outside the apartment after 6PM. I live in a basement so there is a small courtyard at your disposal if you wish to smoke.
3- Please do not have packages/letters shipped to our address.
I was born and raised in Harlem. Harlem has always been about change and innovation. About every 30 years since the Dutch settled on this section of New York called 'Nieuw Haarlem', there has been a drastic shift. For about 10 years Harlem been going through a second renaissance. The infusion of life that has come from Columbia University's campus expansion, seismic decrease in violent crime, and the explosion of the restaurant and nightlife scene has made this neighborhood THE coveted place following the trend of Hell's Kitchen and Williamsburg. I am grateful I can live in the midst of all these beautiful changes. It's my hope that visitors leave Harlem with a very positive impression of my neighborhood.
I've recently taken a break from hosting. My brother Corey who has already been hosting for a few years will be taking over. The exact same listings are now under his profile here at https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/145242566
