Just a few blocks to coffee shops, restaurants, bars, Whole Foods, Irving Park and lovely walking neighborhoods and just a 15 min. walk to the popular N Mississippi Ave and the Alberta Arts dist. Warm and inviting art-filled house, airy kitchen, cozy breakfast nook, leafy and private yard, hammock, fire pit and the very private guest room. My place is ideal for the solo traveler coming to town for work or adventure or for couples exploring the area.
In the DIY spirit of Portland, I'm calling this the "Makers Room". Everything in it was made by someone I know, right down to the bed-frame and dresser, built from walnut trees felled and milled by my Grandfather from the family farm in Minnesota. The books on the shelf all by friends as is the art on the walls, which I built and drywalled myself, naturally! Quiet, cool room and comfortable room with adjacent private bathroom. There's a desk in the room and available dresser drawers in the event you'd like to settle in.
While you're here I'll either consider you a housemate or give you all the privacy you desire. The kitchen is available if you'd like to make coffee or a quick meal. You're welcome to spend time in the garden and several outdoor tables will lure you out and a cast iron fireplace is there to warm up a cool evening. I work in a studio located in the yard and hope to maintain a creative and productive work schedule and as such, it's best to think of my house as a good place to start and end your days while you visit Portland.
I'm happy to make suggestions of places to go and share a meal if I'm cooking. I tend to stay busy however and assume you will be as well.
I have two charming cats, Ivan and Esther, who have been known to melt even a cat-hating heart. They are not allowed in the guest room but might try to visit you.
- Think of my place as a creative retreat, a great place to start and end your day.

I'm an artist and designer, capable of finding satisfaction is most anything analog or off the beaten path. I recently restored my home of 23 years after returning from 11 years in NYC. I've taken a break from Airbnb this Spring but the private bathroom is now finished and ready for guests! I enjoy meeting new people and will be happy to tell you where the great spots are for coffee or a beer. I work at home most days in a studio separate from the house and my spare time is spent taking in local culture and sharing experiences with close friends.
