A bright double room in a period 'A' listed villa dating from 1875 and originally designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson. There is a comfortable double bed with fresh linen, cosy duck feather quilt and pillows and clean towels supplied.
The room has a TV and video and an I pod deck and radio is available if you request them. Tea and coffee making facilities are supplied in the room and often fresh flowers.
Extra blankets available for those that feel the cold.
A self service continental breakfast is provided in the spacious dining kitchen.
Guests have access to the living, kitchen and shared bathroom, downstairs toilet and spacious south facing garden.
Please ask if you want to use the main living room as I tend to treat this as my sanctuary.
Towels, hairdryer and straighteners are provided and tea and coffee on the house.
If you want to make food that's fine, just let me know and I'll show you how everything works and make room in the fridge.
Access to the washing machine and drying facilities are also available. In fact anything you require just ask.
Important note: This is our family home occupied by myself and my daughters and whilst we will make every attempt to keep our belongings out of sight during your stay we are a normal, relaxed family and there will be signs of us living here also. After all this is not a hotel but our beautiful home which we are happy to welcome you into and to share with you for a little while.
I am a busy mum of two daughters and will leave you alone to enjoy your stay, I will however be on hand should you require any specific help or information regarding the local area or trips you may want to make.
Please be aware that our house was built by the Victorians and is 150 years old and as such it is far from perfect. The old sash windows can be stiff at times, the floor boards may creak in places and insulation was not the Victorians strongest point, although the central heating, wood burning stove and open fires will keep you cosy when lit.
The upstairs bathroom fittings are Victorian with the modern convenience of constant hot water. It is fitted with a high level cistern with pull flush facility which is not everyone's taste, however there are alternative modern fittings available in the downstairs toilet. The shower is located over the free standing cast iron bath and requires the shower curtain to be drawn to prevent the water spilling onto the floor. Bath mats are supplied to catch spillages and should be used to protect the floor and for your safety to prevent falls.
If you are looking for ultra modern bathing facilities this is definitely not the place for you. For many, however the opportunity of staying in a lovely old charactful 'A' Listed townhouse is a pleasure but for others it may not be.
Guest rooms, bathrooms and shared access areas are cleaned prior to each new guests arrival, however, due to the age of the building, our home may appear less clean than a modern one. Please let us know if you have any issues with the level of cleanliness so we can address them at the time.....we won't be offended, as we want you to have an enjoyable stay.
Bedrooms are located upstairs. Children and Pets are welcome, but please advise us prior to booking.
From time to time we can accommodate extra guests as we have another double bedroom and plenty of living space available, again please check before booking.
If you need more information or have any questions please ask.
We are easy going household and we hope you enjoy your stay with us. We don't have rules except to ask that you respect our home and let us know what time you will be arriving so we can welcome you.
If you have any questions or problems please let us know. Relax and enjoy your stay.
