I booked this spot on a whim, because if you have the chance to stay at Kurt Cobain's house, then obviously. I didn't realize how legit this place was until I (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)d it later, but this is where he wrote almost all of his music. So, I am hoping I was infected with some inspiration by laying my head here for a night.
The occupants of this apartment (the house is divided into three units) I would guess are college students and or artists. There was a lot of cool art, music instruments, and a shrine to Mr. Cobain. I was happy to see that the place is still a breeding ground for creativity.
Location is everything, and this place is right on the edge of the funky hippyland downtown Olympia. The room itself was very cozy, and I considered moving in.
Things to consider: There are a few occupants here, you will feel like you are crashing at a college friend's pad, and that you are in college. It's possible the room I stayed in belonged to someone, because there are are personal effects in there and someone sleeping on the couch when I left early in the morning. The cat is adorable, but it smells like a cat lives there. Having said all that, this place is prob in better condition than it was when Kurt Cobain lived here, and it's lived in state just makes it feel all the more authentic and cozy. I slept very well.
I recommend this place, and wish I had more time to get to know it's current inhabitants. Don't come here if you want a sterile, pristine hotel experience. Or even a typical Airbnb experience. Just, and I can't resist... come as you are.
