Private bed, bath, and sitting room in a unique location with a pretty water view. Just minutes to Concord by car and 30 minutes to Cambridge and Boston. Hike from the front door through conservation land to Thoreau’s Walden Pond. Many nearby historical and literary destinations.

My wife and I feel lucky to live here and we are happy to share it with guests. We have a lovely view of Farrar Pond, a lake that wraps around our house and its gardens. Across the street is a conserved forest that stretches all the way to Walden Pond. The trails offer excellent walking, cycling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. We have easy auto access to good local restaurants and farm stands. Without traffic, we’re a half hour from the Harvard campus and Boston.

Guests always have access to their rooms, our grounds, and wifi. The sitting room has HD TV. We have trail maps to lend.

Our BnB rooms are on a separate floor, a lower level, so our guests have some privacy.

Every guest enjoys the beauty of our neighborhood, but those who are curious about history, nature, and/or New England writers will have the richest experience here.

The sitting room can accommodate up to two "extra" guests ($20 per night per person).

A continental breakfast is usually available on request. Use of the kitchen is not part of what we offer.

Guests use the bedroom, sitting room, bathroom, and connecting corridors on the lower floor.

Occasionally guests have been disappointed because they assumed that they would have access to kitchen facilities. We hate to see anyone disappointed! Although we do our best to accommodate special requests, regular kitchen use is not part of our offering.

What a sweet landing spot after a long day in the car. Although we only stayed a night, Ron's superior hospitality — from the personalized signs, the welcome and good bye from you, and the blueberry scones & coffee for breakfast — made it feel like a visit with an old friend. Note: You stay in a garden-level apartment of sorts in Ron's home, but it is very private. Then, there is the incredibly beautiful property. The morning mist wafting up from Farrar Pond greeted me as soon as woke up. Then I took a walk on a lovely trail that's just across the street from Ron's driveway. It snakes through the Mt. Misery wilderness — birds, gray squirrels, and chipmunks will cross your path, and I was blessed to be there as the leaves were turning. What a gorgeous sight! I highly recommended folks come to stay here. You will not be disappointed.

This location made for a relaxing end to our trip. Again, Ron & Betsy were helpful hosts, and their space was cozy and quiet. The pond right outside our window was a welcome, natural setting. The scones and coffee were yummy! We love the historical day trips in this area.

Ron’s place is a slice of heaven, here on earth. The house, lake, area, hospitality, trails and delicious breakfast combined to be a perfect first night of our vacation in New England. Our only regret is that we spent just one night here. I cannot say enough about how gorgeous this place is. If Ron’s place is available for your dates, book it. You won’t be sorry!

Ron was a lovely host. Had a very nice chat over scones in the morning. Wish I’d had more time to linger and explore the property as it’s very peaceful. I spent the afternoon after check-in reading a book on the water’s edge while chipmunks ran about! Lots of trails nearby that I didn’t explore but I’d done the Emerson-Thoreau Amble before arriving anyway. Basic but private quarters in the open basement. Having my own couch and TV to wind down the night was perfect. But you’ll want to spend most your time outside!

Ron, Betsy, and this place are what make Airbnb travel so wonderful. They are elegant, thoughtful, interesting hosts whose home is comfortable and comforting as well as gorgeously situated on a lake with a beautiful wood across the street. We were able to take a meandering walk along the trails before we left. We only stayed for one night, and we wished we were staying for several more days. Guests enjoy the entire downstairs basement "apartment" with outdoor access to the lake. Ron had great suggestions for dinner, and he treated us with a continental breakfast of delicious coffee and scones that were the best we've ever had. We can't wait to visit again.

We throughly enjoyed staying here. Ron's home overlooks a quiet and serene pond. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and well appointed and the location was perfect for exploring the area. Ron was delightful and was well informed about the local history, nature and sight seeing opportunities.

I am the author of a novel entitled "Ike" and Editor-in-Chief of Personal History Press. My career has included authoring guides to Massachusetts rivers and New England mountains and serving of executive director of a local conservation organization. My wife shares my appreciation of the outdoors, especially observing birds and other wildlife. We have travelled to Equador, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Turkey, Italy, France, Sri Lanka, and many places in North America. We like to learn as we travel, and to see wildlife, and to eat, talk, hear music, and see historic places.
