This is a real but restored and enhanced miner's cabin that offers a dog-friendly, wonderful setting with 2 beds mere feet from the scenic Trinity River. The river rock landing with fire pit/BBQ is a nature lover's dream come true. Fish right there, or wade to the riffles. Sharp-eyed guests spot the resident bald eagles and river otters. Midsummer-late fall, watch huge salmon spawn just a few feet from the landing. Ask about 3+ night discounts.
The Miner's in one word: enchanting. It is a tiny jewel of a place located just a few feet from the Trinity River. It's pet-friendly, has world class but challenging fishing right outside your door and exquisite river and mountain views.
The Miner's Landing is a fabulous river rock patio with a fire pit & BBQ grill right next to the river. What beats a fire and watching the stars in the night sky?
Occasionally we approve a fourth guest who can bring a sleeping bag and sleep on a (provided) sleeping pad, but this is a small cabin and best enjoyed by 2-3.
Minimalist cooking facilities, but there is a sink, toaster oven, microwave, deep electric skillet and Farberware single-cup coffee maker with coffee pods and creamers included.
AIR does not have a way to add lodging tax, which is 5% of just the lodging fee. We are dog-friendly with friendly dogs. There is a $15 charge per dog, per stay. Both the tax and pet fee may be paid when here.
We have multiple night discounts for 3 or more nights, and we offer quiet season rates after Presidents Day Weekend and before Memorial Day Weekend, so your quote may change if your dates are far enough in the future. If you send a request, we'll send an accurate quote back to you.
Some of our parties have brought cast iron cookware and cooked on the fire pit/BBQ or their own tabletop Weber down on the landing. We were invited to drop in on one of them and visited while he fried gorgeous potatoes in cast iron over an open fire. He patiently turned each herb-seasoned chunk as we caught up with their travels. They had just spent a month in Europe, mostly Paris and some of Italy, but were anxious to return to the Miner's beside the river.
BBQ on the landing, or bring a camp stove and cook on the landing (please not in cabin; we have limited emergency response resources up here and a fire could be devastating). We have gas and Weber BBQs up on the main patio between Alpen Glow & Carriage House.
There is cookware, dining ware and serving ware. Dorm-sized refrigerator has a separate freezer for that all-essential pint of Ben & Jerry's, plus we supply a huge cooler with frozen water jugs to keep it cool. The bathroom features a roomy shower with the toilet in it (like you see on some boats and in some trailers).
We are always upgrading our cabins. We paved the main drive and put in a large parking lot at the entrance that's great for boats and vehicles, but Miner's guests have their own parking close to the cabin. All of our Steel Bridge cabins are Wi-Fi, but the best connection is up on the main property's BBQ patio.
Time to unplug? You really are going to love this place.
Guests have access to the river for fishing, and the riffles (known as Guardrail) in wading distance from the Miner's are well-known for steelhead, salmon and trout fishing. They can lounge on log swing and chairs overlooking the river (although their landing is more private and stunning). If they prefer a gas grill to the fire pit/BBQ on their private river rock landing, they may use the grills on the BBQ patio between Alpen Glow and the Carriage House (about a minute's walk up the trail from the Miner's). Larger parties often rent all 3 cabins, keeping the Miner's as the private jewel for, in some cases, the bride and groom.
Guests see us if they want to and largely don't otherwise, unless we are doing maintenance on the property or they book a kayaking or rafting trip with us (highly recommended).
The highway does go by the Miner's Cabin just up the hill and over a berm, so you will hear traffic. But most guests agree the privacy of the cabin, the incredible river view and access, and the birdsong and river sounds more than make up for it.
Because this cabin is so close to the river, guests should take this into consideration with kids and use their discretion as to whether it's suitable. We suggest younger kids (6 and under) wear life jackets when outside. Beyond that, our House Rules are pretty simple: Respect our cabin. Leave it looking close to how you found it: Swept or vacuumed, clean dishes, fairly tidy. We'll take it from there.
We recycle and compost as much material as possible and ask you to help by separating items into specific containers. No smoking inside cabins. Keep it quiet after 10 PM unless you rent all cabins on the property.
Pick up after dogs and put poop bags in garbage.
Please remember lodging tax (5% of the lodging fee only) and dog fees ($15 per dog per stay) are paid separately when you are here.
