* Until about 1600, St Giles was small village just outside London
* St. Giles-in-the-Fields church next door, across ancient churchyard. Founded over 900 years ago. You sleep with 900 years of Londoners just 10 yards away. Including Andrew Marvell, author of “To My Coy Mistress”, most seductive poem of all time—so yes, you can say you slept next to Andrew Marvell
* Bells of St. Giles church regularly pealed at dusk or weekends-wonderful sound
* Former public execution site 200 yards away
* At nice pub next door (“The Angel”), condemned given “St Giles Bowl” of alcohol—origin of “one for the road”
* Great Plague of London of 1665 started here, hundreds of victims buried in churchyard 10 yards away
* Do internet search for “St Giles London” for more information—very rich, fascinating history

SMALL PRINT:

* Crowded with more than 2 guests: during day best to put airbed aside, fold up sofabed
* As photos illustrate, private residence with personal photos on wall, books on shelves
* Carpet is beige wool. Clean but shows stains more than most carpets
* Clean bed linens, towelling, new toilet rolls every 5 days
* Be sure to book everyone beforehand: guests not booked prior to arrival charged at twice per person daily rate, for entire duration of stay
* Public executions retained for guests who leave flat unreasonably dirty or who have undeclared guests

SUBSTANTIAL CHARGES FOR UNDECLARED ADDITIONAL GUESTS--BOOK THEM IN ADVANCE. All guests must be booked with us at least 48 hours prior to arrival. Be sure to do this, because the charge for undeclared guests is much higher, and the property manager checks the apartment daily. Undeclared guests are charged at double the daily rate, for the duration of your entire stay, irrespective of how many nights they stay.

For example, suppose:
* You book two people for six nights.
* The normal charge for additional guests is £30/night, where you book the additional guests ahead of time.
* When the property manager visits, we find two additional guests are staying, that we didn’t know about.
* You tell us that the additional guests have just arrived and are only staying one night.

In this case, the charge for the two additional undeclared guests is 6 days at £60/night for 2 additional guests = £720. Had you declared the additional guests to us, the cost would only have been £60.


SUBSTANTIAL CHARGES FOR SMOKING, PETS, EVENTS, PARTIES. Smoking, pets, events and parties are not allowed. If, contrary to these terms, there has been smoking, pets, events or a party in the property, the charges are £50 pounds (smoking), £150 pounds (pets), £750 (events), and £750 (parties). If you disturb the neighbours, the charge is £50 per complaint we receive.


DAMAGE ETC. Additional charges apply for: missing or damaged items, excessive and unreasonable cleaning, unreturned keys, and damage from forcing the washer/dryer door.


PROPERTY MANAGER ACCESS DURING YOUR VISIT. During your stay, the property manager will periodically visit for purposes of maintenance, repair and inspection, and to confirm that the correct number of guests are staying.

We are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occur while on the property, nor are we responsible for the loss of your personal belongings or valuables. All guests assume the risk for any harm arising from their use of the property or others whom they invite to use the property.

We had a wonderful stay in London and at this location, and there was much to like about the flat. We appreciated the thorough instructions, the very functional kitchen, nice bathroom, and amazingly central yet quiet location. The less-than-perfect rating is largely the result of our difficulty getting in (there was no lockbox despite the instructions, and after flying from Boston we got in only after other AirBnBers happened to come by and let us in). Also there were certain problems with the space: an unpleasant smell (mold?), clutter, and a quite dirty carpet. Nevertheless I would recommend David's place, especially for families, and absolutely if these issues are addressed.

This place was lovely and comfortable - very clean, nice design, and perfect location close to everything. It's a great place to stay if you like to be near the heart of the action, but on a relatively quiet side street. Will definitely stay here again when I return to London. David's guide book felt personal and friendly. Enjoyed it! Thanks!

The first thing that surprised me when I enter the flat is there is a binder where you can find all the information about this flat. You can call it the user manual to the flat. That's how organized things are! You will found labels and instructions all around the house. Location is the best! You are closed to all the shops and attractions. The user manual even tells you how to save money in finding good restaurants and where to get groceries in the neighborhood. We really enjoy our stay that we are definitely going back to London and staying in this flat if we can.

Great little pied a terre with everything you could need in a fantastic, central location. You couldn't be closer to the action is you tried. Fab pre-stay communication and guest book. Would definitely stay again.

Londoner, went to the US to do PhD Philosophy at Stanford, seemed like fun. Instead discovered computers and mathematical logic, got diverted into research in artificial intelligence. Which people say describes me perfectly. Ran several high tech firms, founded a museum.

Now semi-retired. Got into property rentals in 2013 to provide for ill-deserved retirement and envisioned incompetence. Assisted by Sara (met her in Eritrea, lovely but poorly-governed country), Ellen, Angelica. Also have project to increase openness in ancient London trade guilds, write short essays on what it is to be a human being.

Purchased condo in November 2016. Son Nicholas purchased #610 in same building, identical layout, at same time. I look up to him, he looks down upon me.
