A private two bedroom, two bathroom *basement* residence within walking distance of some of the best eating, drinking, and shopping on both Hawthorne and Division. Minimally decorated to offer a clean, fresh space to any and all guests passing through our beautiful city. Nestled within the Richmond neighborhood of SE Portland.
Private level, airy and well-lit, fully furnished downstairs *basement* unit that has two bedrooms with queen beds, full kitchen. We offer Wifi, laundry usage, a fun tandem bike (with helmets), two smart TVs, etc. The unit has one private full bath and an additional full bath on same floor - just across the hallway from the unit.
Guest apartment entrance is accessed by the back door. Walk around the east side (left side, if you're facing the house) of the house, past the bicycles and into the backyard. Guests have access to the entire private lower *basement* level of the house. A Second full bathroom and laundry on the guest level is the only portion of the house shared with the upstairs hosts. A locking door separates your private unit from the shared space, but the full bathroom off the laundry room is largely unused and available for your convenience.
Johnny and Alicia live upstairs on the main home level with their two dogs, Gus & Buckley, (neither of which are allowed into the guest apartment). They can be easily reached, to attend to any needs/requests but will allow complete privacy.
We ask that the gate to the back yard be latched as you come and go for the dog's safety, though the likeliness of meeting the dogs unattended is very rare.
Feel free to text Johnny or Alicia if you'd like to use the tandem bicycle, or would like to coordinate use of the laundry.
As a basement-level suite, it is natural for some activity upon the wood floors above to travel audibly, especially in this classic Portland neighborhood, of century-old homes. We try to prevent as much noise as possible, but it isn't 100% avoidable. Please don't hesitate to inform us if the noise is completely unbearable. In these cases we can try to rearrange things to suit the needs of our guests. We only ask that our guests be patient and understanding.
Just as noteworthy: lower clearance ceilings in the apartment could make the headspace a little cozy for those likely to be early picks for the basketball team ;). (note doorframe height in relation to ceiling).
Absolutely no pets.
If you're a smoker (this includes pot) you cannot be on the property while doing so. You must walk away from the house and onto the street.
We are a young, active couple who enjoy all that Portland has to offer. We've been here almost 10 years and in the Pacific Northwest all our lives, so feel free to ask any questions regarding the area! Both of us work nearby and Alicia also attends graduate school at Lewis & Clark College.
Our two dogs, Gus and Uncle Buck, are a couple of goofs. Gus is a quite gregarious while Buckley is the sweetest/most mellow dog ever. Gus may greet you at the window, but fear not, he's super friendly despite the occasional bark.
Having visitors from all over the world is a wonderful experience and our goal is to help everyone fall in love with Portland the way we have!
