At Grom's Hideaway you get comfort, location, and a private, open to the stars, outdoor shower. Three bedrooms, walk to the beach, walk to windsurfing and surfing, walk to the local store. Casual, comfortable, cute, and Maui-style.
Grom's Hideaway is three bedrooms with four beds (king, queen and two twins). There's everything you need to have a relaxing and exciting vacation with your friends or family. Enjoy a barbecue, fruit trees on property, a private, outdoor shower, full kitchen, a walk around the quiet neighborhood, a beautiful morning at the beach and some wonderful surf. Walk over to Mama's Fish House (perennially voted Maui's best restaurant) for a sunset and cocktails and talk story about the day.
Grom's Hideaway is a family friendly, free-standing house with it's own gated driveway. Kids can play in the neighborhood because there are no through-streets, no fast traffic. And, the closest beach is protected by a reef creating (usually) a calm beach for young kids to play.
Outside the reef is world class windsurfing, SUP, surfing, and kiting.

Aloha and Welcome to Grom’s Hideaway, Maui
Dear friends and family, we welcome you to Maui and hope yours is a beautiful
and relaxing stay, with memories to last a lifetime.
Between 9pm - 8am daily. Please respect our neighbors. They are not on vacation. Because walls are thin, refrain from playing loud music, banging doors, or engaging in loud conversation during quiet hours. Amplified sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries of the bed and breakfast home is prohibited.
*In Hawaii it is customary to leave your shoes (“slippahs”) outside of the house*
There is also a spigot by the back door steps to rinse off the sand before entering the house.
Be energy considerate:
Turn off lights, TV, etc. when you are out of the house. Mahalo!
NO SMOKING INSIDE AT ANY TIME
Located outside the kitchen door. BBQ may require extension lighter to start flame. Please clean BBQ and turn propane off after use. Please do not leave food uncovered or out overnight to avoid tropical bugs and rodents.
Be aware of ceiling fans. Avoid lifting anything too high that may hit or obscure blade rotation.
For your own security lock the door when leaving for the day. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Take normal precautions for protection of your valuables. We cannot be is liable for loss or theft.
***Maui Bugs work full time and will enjoy any food items left out or not sealed tightly***
Trash pick up is along the road on Monday (very early). Please pull the barrels out to the street.
Recycle – We ask that you rinse all recyclables and kindly remove all lids. There is a barrel outside the kitchen door for recycling all plastics, bottles and cans.
Please dry off thoroughly before entering home.
Hot water is heated by on-demand water heating system that uses propane. Propane tanks will be full upon your arrival. At times, water temperature may drop. If this happens, turn off water and turn back on to restart heating element.
There’s a washer and dryer in the back of the house (outside kitchen window). The wonderful Maui sun is a natural dryer – you may use the hooks on the shower deck. Or, there is a dryer for quicker drying or on rainy days. Please clean out the lint trap. Simply remove the lint tray inside the dryer, and shake out in the trash next to the dryer and replace. This will ensure the dryer is functioning properly. Also, be aware that the laundry facilities and sand don’t mix well. Shake out your clothes and towels in the yard before putting them in the washer, please.
We will initially stock the house with supplies (e.g. hand soap, dishwasher soap, paper towels and toilet paper). Extra supplies are your responsibility and may be obtained in the town of Paia or in Kahului. Some cleaning supplies and rags are under the kitchen sink for your use.
Tap water in Paia is good to drink. A filtered water jug may be provided upon request.
Kitchen Sink Dispose-all:
Please put most food scraps in the garbage. The dispose-all is fairly weak and will not crush larger food items like onion skins. Instead, the sink will become clogged requiring a plumber’s attention.
Park in the driveway only. No parking on the grass.
Please notify us if anything is broken or you notice something is not working properly so we may repair or replace the problem promptly.
Check Out Procedure:
Please leave keys inside upon final departure with the door locked and lights off.
We will have to charge $25 charge for missing keys. Keys will unlock both the front and kitchen door. A different key may be provided for the outside bathroom door.
Please do your best to “kokua” (take care of) and leave the house the way you found it (we will do laundry after your departure). Throw excess garbage out and wash dishes. Any excess cleaning required, damage to contents, damages to linen and bedding will be charged against your security deposit or credit card. Missing towels cost $20 per towel.
Check out time is 10am unless other arrangements have been made.
As are most beach towns in Hawaii, Paia is located in a tsunami zone. If you feel the earth shaking, head to higher ground. Head to higher ground if you hear the tsunami sirens. If a tsunami is detected, you’ve been instructed to evacuate, and you have time before its arrival, use the designated evacuation route, which is up Baldwin Ave (right on Hana Hwy, and left at the stoplight) NOTE: the siren system is tested on the first weekday of the month at 11:45 a.m. for about one minute. This is a normal test and does not indicate a tsunami has been detected.
Please contact us if you have any additional questions.

There is a Costco in Kahului, as well as a Safeway, Foodland, and a Cash n’ Carry. Mana Foods is a great health food store located in Paia - the food is fresh, often local, and natural. Mana is located just up Baldwin Ave from the stoplight, about a block and a half up on the left side. Store hours are 8 am to 8 pm.
The closest sandy beach is Mama’s Beach. Simply walk out the driveway to the left, curve right on Aleiki, head all the way to the end and look for the beach path on the left. BEWARE of the ocean currents and waves, whether the waves are small or large.
Hookipa Beach is approx. ½ mile down the road going East on Hana Hwy (towards Hana), and offers a nice, long stretch of sandy beach. Hookipa is famous for its surfing in the morning and windsurfing in the afternoon (when the wind picks up). Head to the far right-hand side of the beach to get out of the wind and for sea turtle veiwing.
Paia Bay & Baldwin Beaches – Paia Bay is just past the stoplight in Paia. For a long, beautiful walk along the beach, start at Paia Bay Beach and head left. When it looks like it ends, find the trail to continue (just in the forest). You’ll then enter the “nude” beach. When that looks like it ends, find the trail again that leads to Baldwin Beach. Baldwin Beach is long and sandy (about one-mile long) and brings you all the way to Sprecklesville and Baby Beach, (which is just the far western end of Baldwin, where a reef breaks the waves and makes a tranquil protected pool).
Mahalo and Enjoy Your Stay!
