Glorified camping at it's best (because you don't need to pitch a tent or pack everything including the kitchen sink).
Delightful weekender that consists of an all-in-one room with a queen-size bed, lounge chairs and meals area. The sweet sound of serenity and the perfect peace of complete privacy can be yours at this secluded rural retreat on 20 acres (8 hectares) of natural Aussie bush.
This is a back-to-basics experience. Not suitable for "Princes/Princesses" ... No TV, hot showers, insulation, air conditioning, fridge, flushing loo or other mod-cons ... just the bare essentials. Nothing to do but hide away, relax and enjoy the tranquillity (and assorted native inhabitants … kangaroos, resident goanna, plenty of birds etc).
Configuration is: Snuggly Queen bed in one corner, separate vanity room, kitchenette with gas hobs for cooking and a lounge area. Tank water, wood heater, solar-power with a generator for back-up AND … a porta-loo (that you get to empty before you leave ... it's all part of the experience !!! ) Candle power adds to the ambience (BYO candles).
All the basics are provided - cooking utensils, crockery & cutlery. BYO food & esky/ ice to keep things cool. Tea/Coffee/Sugar/UHT milk (skinny & fat), salt/pepper, cooking oil, alfoil & glad wrap supplied. Lake Eppalock shop (seasonal trading hours) is 10 minute drive through the bush if you want an ice-cream or additional supplies.
Guests will have exclusive use of the property so don't need to see me unless they want to. I'm only a phone call away if they have any questions or problems (yes! there is mobile coverage for those who can't live without their phone).
Forgotten how to live without technology to entertain you?
Here are some suggestions:
- Talk to each other! (or just enjoy a companionable silence)
- Sit and gaze over the landscape (you'll feel your worries melt away)
- Go for a walk
- Make a bush cubby or fort
- Bird/nature watch
- Read a book
- Play cards / board games (no cheating!)
- Try your hand at painting/sketching
- Practice your photography
- Sit around a camp fire
- Make a damper ... or REAL toast
- Watch the sun rise/set
- Star gaze (the sky is magic away from urban lights)
- Identify cloud types (or shapes they resemble)
- Go yabbying/fishing at nearby Lake Eppalock.
- Chill on the porch & listen to the radio (we love 96.5 KLFM)
- Explore the region with day trips to Lake Eppalock/ Bendigo/Redesdale/Heathcote
Relax and enjoy.
"Conserve" ... no long showers here (power, water & wood are finite)
Respect the environment (take out what you take in; don't use more than you need)
Collect old wood for campfires (pre-cut wood is for inside heater)
Try to keep your limbs in tact if chopping wood (it's a bit of a drive to the nearest hospital)
Empty the loo before you leave !!!
No recreational vehicles, eg: motorbikes, ATV's.
No guns / hunting.

Hosting is a hobby that indulges my interest in people. I have an outgoing personality that thrives on life, people, fresh air and activity. Non-smoker. 70% homebody, 30% adventurer. Hard worker who enjoys family, volunteering, travel, camping, sport, music, dancing, movies, arts/crafts ... you name it ... I'll try most things once. Dislikes: Injustice, discourtesy and pumpkin!
