La Bonne Étoile Gite
Gorgeous 2 bedroom stone cottage (sleeps 4) in the heart of the Dordogne, 25 mins from Sarlat in the Périgord Noir, the land of 1001 chateaux. Idyllic rural setting, woodlands on your doorstep and a wonderfully preserved typical Perigourdine hamlet.
The cottage was orginally the old farm house and our house next door used to be the barn, before it was converted. The cosy cottage (approx. 60 m2) consists of two bedrooms (one double & one twin), an open plan living room with kitchenette, a shower room, 2 large outdoor terraces and a private fenced garden. It is a very child-friendly property!
We have two young children of our own (and a dog!) and as such, the cottage is fully stocked with children's books, DVDs and toys!
Other items are available upon request such as a travel cot, high chair, bed guard, potty. Please let us know in advance if you require any of these items and they will be ready for your arrival.
The property isn't suitable for people with pet allergies.
We live next door and can be as available as you would like us to be. We are more than happy to help with organising excursions and in providing guidance on what to do in the area. Gillian is fluent in French and can happily make bookings or enquiries for you. If we are not on site, you can always reach us by mobile phone.
We are situated in the heart of the Périgord Noir famous for its wonderfully preserved chateaux, medieval settlements & prehistoric caves. The renowned historic town of Sarlat is 25 mins away with its delightful medieval streets, home to many restaurants and character shops. Beynac, 15 mins away, with its dramatic chateau perched high on the cliff above the pretty village and the river Dordogne. Most major tourist sites are within a 15-20 drive - Beynac, Castelnaud, Hanging Gardens of Marqueyssac, Josephine Baker Castle, La Roque Gageac, Gouffre de Proumeyssac, the famous cave paintings at Font de Gaume, Limeuil and much more. The world famous Lascaux 2 is a 50 minute drive away. There is SO much to explore and discover in this stunning area!

Hi! After talking on and off about moving to France for about 10 years, the stars aligned and we left Scotland in May 2012 to embark on an adventure of a life time. With all our wordly possessions packed into a storage unit, we took off in our VW and headed South. We started viewing properties and instantly fell under the charm of this quaint stone cottage as well as our tranquil, peaceful and picturesque hamlet. This is the place we now call home and we would love to share it with you
We love travelling with our children - especially in France and in Europe - meeting new people, eating good food and drinking a glass or two of vino!
