Centrally located in the Portland metro area, The TreeHouse is located in West Linn, a lovely, prosperous community bordering the Willamette River and features Willamette Falls* (see below) and a quaint "Old Town" to walk and explore with many dining opportunities. Portland is just 15 minutes away and Mt. Hood skiing and the Columbia River Gorge is less than an hour, the scenic Clackamas and Willamette Rivers (with wide sandy beaches for swimming and sunbathing) are just minutes away and the Willamette Valley wine country a mere stone's throw (quite literally). This spacious, rustic tri-level stilt dwelling climbs into the surrounding forest and features a lovely view of the wooded hillside and creek below and features loads of amenities all for your exclusive use.
The Tiki Dry-Bar Kitchenette (yes, dry-bar = no running water or sink), but here's the upside: Wait for it..... No doing dishes on vacation! YAY!!! I do them for you! double YAY!! :-) Just place your used / dirty dishes on the stair landing and they are cleaned and replaced - think putting your room service tray in the hallway outside your hotel room) is equipped with a small fridge, ice cooler, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishes/glasses, silverware and food prep items (cutlery, cutting boards, mixing / serving bowls, spatulas, etc) and a couple of growlers to fill up at the local pub. There is NO COOK TOP OR OVEN, but on the deck you'll find a Jenn Air Gas Grill BBQ/Oven w/ Side burner for sauteing or boiling water & Rotisserie with built in temperature gauge if you wish to bake. Also, for special events or holidays I can loan out my Hamilton Beach 22 Quart (28 Lb Turkey) Electric Roaster Oven.
One of the highlights of the space is what is affectionately known as The Blue Room. It is the ultimate "Man" Cave. Part Home Theater Room part Polynesian Tiki Bar Lounge, regale yourself on the the leather sectional sofa / recliner and marvel at the 70" Sony XBR LCD Projection HDTV / Monitor, Marantz AV 7.1 Surround Sound Receiver, 7 reference quality THX Certified Triad LCR and in-wall surround speakers and 20" enclosed subwoofer. You will feel like you're at the local Cineplex. It also doubles as a high end audio system as well. The unit is also equipped with a Sony Playstation 3. Far more than the mere gaming platform of old, it now serves as your home entertainment content hub with a host of integrated apps to include Netflix, Amazon Video, HBO Go, Hulu, Vudu HD, Spotify, YouTube, iHeart Radio, CBS News and many others. You’ll also find audio CD's and Blu-ray's for your listening and viewing pleasure. The system as a whole, whether it’s music or movies, is a dream come true for video or audiophiles.
A continental breakfast is provided in the fridge, i.e. cereal, bagels, waffles, spreads, toast, juice, coffee/tea, etc.
While central heating is provided, there is also a natural gas, log fireplace with 65,000 Btu's at your disposal (see picture of great room). There are also extra blankets, quilts or comforters in the guest room closets as well as a space heater for use in the bedroom.
The space is homey with character and a comfortable, lived in feel. If you are expecting a pristine, perfect, Hyatt-like experience you might want to look elsewhere. Likewise, while events and having fun are welcome, partying all night is not. There are noise restrictions that begin as early as 10 pm on weeknights. So, if you want to "party like gods", you would best be served finding a stand alone unit.
A Note on Pricing: While infants, toddlers, children and pets are welcome, they do count for billing purposes as an additional "adult" guest. I consider our furry friends to be sentient beings just like you and me, so they are subject to an extra guest fee of $20/night (limit 1). As for infants and toddlers, their impulse control and self management skills are rather ..... unrefined at this point, to put it mildly lol! So, please change the number of adult guests (in the drop down menu) accordingly. For example, two couples traveling together, one with a toddler and a Miniature Poodle and one with an infant and a 10 year old would select 8 adults for the number in their party. (4 adults, 3 kids and 1 dog = 8).
Pricing Note: Children and pets are welcome, but are considered an "additional" adult guest for billing purposes (including infants and toddlers). So, if you are two couples traveling together with an infant, a toddler and a pet, you would select 7 as the number of adults in your party.
*The Willamette Falls is a natural waterfall on the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn, Oregon, in the United States. It is the largest waterfall in the American Pacific Northwest by volume, and the seventeenth widest in the world. Horseshoe in shape, it is 1,500 feet (460 m) wide and 40 feet (12 m) high with a flow of 30,849 cu ft/s (874 m³/s).
Descend the long side staircase into the forest below and enter your 1st floor flat-on-stilts via your own separate entrance. Inside, a locked, solid core door separates your private, self contained unit from the rest of the structure. Descend the long side staircase into the forest below and enter the 1st floor suite-on-stilts via your own separate entrance. Inside, a locked, solid core door separates your private, self contained unit from the rest of the structure. While we reside above, we spend most of our time and sleep on the 3rd floor. Please park to the right of the driveway (as you face the house) or across the street.
From early September to mid June, check in (Mon - Fri) is between 5:00 - 6:00 PM, but the space is often available earlier. Let us know if you would like an early check in and we'll see what we can do to accommodate you. On weekends all year long, holidays and school recess periods (winter and spring breaks and summer vacation) check in is between 3:00 and 6:00 PM.
Please be advised that the cleaning fee of $20 is for stays of 2 nights or less. For stays of additional length, add $10/day. So a stay of 5 days, the cleaning fee would be $50.
I provide a tour, answer questions and offer concierge services. We also enjoy playing ping pong and darts and will gladly oblige any and all comers.
This is the same space as The TreeHouse Bed & Breakfast Suite, but with an additional bedroom for those who require one. We do not double book the two spaces. Once The TreeHouse Too 2 BR B&B Flat is booked, The TreeHouse Bed & Breakfast Suite is listed as unavailable, so no - you will not be rooming with others ;-)
Kitchen items—If you want to cook on the outdoor grill/oven, you will have access to pots, pans, utensils, and basic supplies like cooking oil, salt and pepper. Since the dry bar has no sink, we provide daily dish cleaning service. So, no "doing dishes" during your stay (yeh! :-) We also provide a refillable pitcher of filtered water.
Towels & Linens—We provide towels and linens, so no need to bring your own. If your stay is longer than 3 days we provide a fresh set of towels and a laundry service of personal items on the 3rd day and every 3rd day thereafter. Additional launders are $5 each (unfolded).
Toiletries—We provide soap/body wash, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste and blow dryer.
Heat & Air Conditioning—There is central heating set at 68 degrees mornings and evenings, and there is a 65,000 Btu gas fireplace at your disposal. A/C is also central, and is set at 73 degrees 24/7.
We have 2 very friendly & lovable English Bulldogs, but they are kept on the main level unless you wish them to come and visit you.
As you can imagine, Portland very much has a "high" and "low" season when it comes to travel and tourism. And pricing for lodging varies accordingly. So don't be surprised if the daily rate in the summer when you want to visit is 20 - 30% higher than the daily rate listed when you book in April. So please understand it is not a bait and switch. That low rate you're seeing in April would very much apply if you were booking in April, but it does not apply for July or August.
While we do allow special events and parties, we charge extra for those at $20 a head. So if you plan to host a wedding and have 20 guests attending, the cost will be $400.
Effective October 1, 2015, Marijuana became legal for personal recreational use for anyone over the age of 21 and is available for purchase at local marijuana dispensaries in the State of Oregon. We believe that you have the right to exercise your rights under Oregon law, but keep in mind said law explicitly prohibits the consumption of said product, either by ingestion or inhalation, in public or within view of the public. So, while smoking is allowed on the deck, please exercise caution and good judgment. Thank you in advance for your kind cooperation in this matter.
Our neighbors have asked that you not park in front of their house. Please park in front of 19655 Sun Circle or across the street. Thank you!
Upon arrival, please read the House Manual (green laminated placards) and review the House Rules sections of your digital Itinerary.
Children 12 and under are NOT be left unattended without our consent and are NOT to use the hot tub without adult supervision.
Please do NOT dispose of tampons, baby wipes or anything other than toilet paper in the toilet. Doing so may result in a clogged drain and sewage backing up into the shower. And it's nasty, let me tell, you don't want to go there.
Besides common consideration, the only other thing I ask is no pool or ping pong after 10:00 on weeknights (Sun - Thu.) and 11:00 on weekends. While gatherings and special events are permitted, please abide by these hHouse Rules and not party past midnight at the latest.
Use of the hot tub is unlimited for a party of one. For couples it is limited to the hours of 5:00 AM to Midnight. For groups of 3 or more it is limited to the hours of 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
At times I will need to access the back yard/deck/spa for maintenance purposes. I will try do so while you are away or message you first.
Groups of 3 or more, and/or stays of 3 days or longer are subject to an additional cleaning fee of between $30 - $100. That fee can be waived by doing a self clean. Please message me for details.
We recycle and ask that you do as well. Please place all recyclable materials in the Target bags provided.
Before departure, please tidy up and leave the place as you found it except bedding / towels. Those you can leave as they are.
