We stayed at Giovanni's little basement-apartment as listed on Airbnb. We very much enjoyed the peace and the quiet of staying there by virtue of the fact that their villa is off the main road and they have more sheep for neighbours than people. It is particularly nice to lay down in their huge garden to read, take the sun or be amused by their free-roaming turtle. There are no dogs barking nor rooster crownings, only the occasional screech and horn of permitted cars getting access to the neighbouring properties. The best selling point is probably the hospitality of the hosts. Giovanni and his sister Francesca may show you around if you don't speak Italian, however Giovanna, Giovanni's mother, is exceptionally hospitable; in fact, as it has been mentioned in previous reviews, she went out of her way to offer us food to make us feel welcome: a meal when we arrived, ice cream for when we were taking the sun, some terrific parmigiana aubergines and even some traditional donuts!
We had a car to travel around to the town centre and the beaches in the area. If you are thinking to do the same, be advised that most beaches now charge you for parking (1,50EUR per hour at La Cinta). There is a bus system in place to get to the beaches around San Teodoro, which is more convenient than paying for parking. In fact, you may feel inclined to move away from La Cinta altogether as it is usually overcrowded, however other really nice beaches in the area also charge a lot for parking, such as Cala Brandinchi or Capo Coda Cavallo. If you have a car I would recommend travelling 10 minutes either north or south of San Teodoro to Murta Maria or Budoni, which either don't charge for parking or just very little (0,30EUR per hour in Budoni). Incidentally, a lot of the food we tried in San Teodoro's town centre was very good; one restaurant that comes to mind is 'Da Fabio'.
The apartment itself is as per description. It's below from the main living quarters for the family, which makes the apartment feel a bit more private. The furnitures are a bit dated, but you are provided with clean bedding and towels upon arrival. We did not have problems with mosquitoes by plugging the mosquitocide every evening (provided) before dusk and having the door closed when possible. The internet connection is a bit spotty at times. We would recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet place where to rest from your beach sun-bathing or Sardinia-exploring sessions.
Thank you to Giovanna for the great hospitality!
