Cottage alongside an 1800s Stone Farmhouse on 11 acres with meadow, woods, walking trail, pond, & creek along Conestoga River. 10mins to downtown, 15min to outlets and Sight Sound Theatre, EZ access to tourist centers. Less than 10 mins to Millersville Univ. Quiet surroundings away from traffic. Outdoor deck use.
We are only 8 minutes from Lancaster city center but while you're here you'll think you are on your own piece of paradise. You can stand on our bluff overlooking one of the many bends in the Conestoga, you can take in the peacefulness of our creek as it cascades over the rocks or you can just sit on the deck and take in a piece of Lancaster farm history. The cottage is 200 yrs old and was originally the summer kitchen. Now a modern suite with a luxurious bath, you will see how those old timbers still remind you of the cottage's hard working past.
We welcome all guest to enjoy JoValley. There are walking paths to the river and through the woods but not to grandma's house; but perfect for a good 1/2 mile walk with your coffee and mother nature.
We like to give our guests as much privacy as they want, but we are a small farmette so we are outside all the time. We are usually only a text away from helping you enjoy our wonderful 11 acres, share some hints on the area or just to make sure that you are having a super stay here at JoValley.
So you're not thinking your GPS sent you to the wrong place: Our farmhouse is on the same road as normal suburban neighborhood. After you turn onto Wilderness Rd, you will see a big row of towering evergreens on the left, with a driveway that almost sneaks through them. Yes, that is our driveway. After you get onto the driveway, you'll be assured that you are indeed at JoValley; you'll see the old farmhouse. Use the door next to the garage - ring the big bell as loud as you like.
Check in time is 3p. But call if you have any special needs.
Check out is 11a.
Keep in mind that we have a dog, a lovable brown lab who frequently has wet, muddy feet (see reasons below).
While it looks like we have no neighbors, we do. So we try not to be too noisy.
We have a pond and a river and a creek. Please let us know if you are going swimming in the river (for safety). The pond is spring fed so only crazy dogs like our Lab go swimming in it. You can walk the creek but you will need appropriate shoes.
We have a 200 year old springhouse. It is the centerpiece of our property. But it is a working spring so we ask you to not go in. We can take you for a tour of it if timing works out.
We have lots of wild 'crops' in what probably looks like random wooded areas. Please stay on the trails.
