Well travelled, 40+ British-French couple offering 3 rooms in our house+ FREE parking. 19km from Paris we are located in a rare setting indeed: lake, forest, horses. Very relaxing! Please read backwards for direct contact: moc liamg ta bnbxuertrahcel

We have 3 bedrooms to rent. This listing is for the newly decorated Oaxaca bedroom.

First floor double bedroom. This bed is slightly lower than standard beds. It contains plenty of cupboards & drawers and a desk with computer chair.

Our other rooms:

Groundfloor double bedroom, cream fitted wardrobes & drawers. Next to this is a bathroom (with shower but no bath) and beyond that, a separate toilet. On this floor there is a shared, equipped kitchen with a 5 place kitchen table, and the lounge/dining room.

First floor, large sunny room containing: 1 single bed, 1 pull out matress bed, 1 inflatable bed, desk, lamps, plenty of places for clothes & personal items. Seaside theme suitable for any age/sex. Beautiful views of the countryside: fields & forest. A very warm room in summer.

On the 1st floor there is a bathroom with shower (we prefer you take showers) and a separate toilet room. Also on this floor are 2 other bedrooms. You share a wall with one room but we have soundproofed each room. There is a desk with printer on the landing which can be used upon request, for occasional printing. We have a dressingroom on the landing which you don't have access to.

On the ground floor, we have 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (without bath but with shower), 1 toilet room, a fully equiped kitchen. There is also a lounge dining room which is open from the entrance hall but we tend to use this as ourprivate space unless we all decide to eat together.

The fully decorated basement contains the laundry room which you have access to a washing machine once a week and a huge fridge (no freezer) for our guests. If you need freezer space please ask & we can access the situation. We definately have enough space for icecubes.

You are welcome to use the front garden during your stay, we have plenty types of chairs & beds & parasols. The back garden & swimming pool is off limits to guests.

We can offer you a basic help yourself breakfast: sliced bread, butter, jams, cheese, milk, Tetleys tea & instant or ground coffee.
Please note that we can't offer you croissants & baguette unless it's weekend because we work but you can always walk down to the boulangerie should you desire a naughty pain au chocolat!

My husband is French (though not typically French at all) & I am English. The kitchen is the main room where we all meet if our guests wish to sit and chat or just eat.

We enjoy meeting people from different cultures & backgrounds having travelled quite a bit ourselves. My husband is very sociable, loves practising his English & has a great sense of humour but we understand that people want their own space too. We sometimes cook & share food & wine with our guests but this is inpromptu & more likely at weekends.

We can take you for a quick tour of the local area when you arrive so you can easily find your way around. I have plenty of information on local transport to give you & can make other recommendations.

We will always be present during your stay, sometimes in the daytime, always at night.

If you want peace, quiet and a countryside view after a long day in busy, poluted Paris then you've come to the right place!!

We live in a very pretty and equally unique, small, agricultural, green-belt town which is just 18km (15 mins drive depending upon traffic) from Paris.

70% of our town is green spaces which have a protected flora & fauna ecosystem.

In Saulx-les-Chartreux we have at least 5 equestrian centres within walking distance. Behind our house is a forest in which, if you are lucky you will see deers & phesants. We often go mushrooming there. Surrounding our town & just at the end of our street, there are agricultural fields & fields containing horses.

We are also lucky enough to have a lake (no boats, fishing or swimming) to walk or cycle around, this is within walking distance. There are plenty of walks which we can recommend.

The Best Western hotel just down the road has an excellent restaurant producing real home cooked, seasonal food (unlike 90% of the restaurants in Paris who reheat mass-produced food). It is a little pricy BUT the quality is excellent & the (real) chefs are flexible & creative for veggie options.

The start of our small town centre is a 5 minute walk away. The boulangerie (bakery) is the closest shop. Further down there is the mairie (townhall), a park, a bar/newsagent/tabac, an open-late grocery store, the butchers, a couple of hairdressers, 2 pharmacies, the post office and a church. Please note that some of the shops will be closed for a week or 2 during August. There are however 2 shopping centres 5 minutes by car, about 30 mins on foot. One is about 2 bus stops away.

These shopping centres contain large supermarkets, smaller lowcost supermarkets, a couple of electrical (PC etc) shops, cheap clothes & shoes shops & various eateries. Most are open on Sundays.

Our town is in Ile-de-France which includes Paris & it's suburbs. We are in the suburbs.

Our neighbourhood is quiet and safe. You can walk about at night with no problems. The bar generally shuts around 8pm & so the streets are quiet in the evenings.

As it's a small, friendly town, when you pass someone in the street we all say "Bonjour" to each other. Or "Bonsoir" if it's after 6pm.

The town sometimes has free events going on at the weekends. They could be a carboot sale, a local theatre group or local artists, a music concert, a fireworks display (July 14th) & a classic car show.

We are situated not far from RER line B which goes to Orly and Roissy CDG airports. We can collect you from Palaiseau-Villebon station or there is a bus from Massy station.

From Massy station there are TGV fast trains going to the South of France.

By car, we are ideally situated for many motorways, main National roads, large centre commercials (shopping complexes).

I can send you information upon various transport alternatives.

We have a bus stop 3 minutes away. This bus goes to Massy RER station which will then take you directly to Paris.

The bus takes 15 to 20 minutes and the train will take you about 20 to 30 minutes to reach the heart of Paris.

The last bus back from Massy is about 9pm. there are alternative later buses but they involve more walking from neighbouring towns.

Taxis to/from Paris are more expensive but can be made cheaper if you are a group of adults sharing the fare. I can recommend a good company with English speakers.

Versailles and EuroDisney are easily accessible by car but can also be reached by train.

Fast fibre internet (wifi) will be installed in mid/end of August. Our current internet connection is workable with but we've decided to offer our guests the best speeds available.

We are on a plane route from Orly airport so, depending upon the wind directions, and whether they are taking off or landing, you will hear some noise. There are no planes during the night. Planes are not very, very low and they do not pass directly over our house. I grew up on a flightpath so I never really notice the planes but you might. They are no louder than a passing car, my husband can offer you ear plugs ;-) but no other guest has ever commented on the planes.

We have one, mobile, heavy airconditioning unit which can be moved to descend the temperature of upstairs rooms before going to bed incase of extreme weather.

Electrical fans are can be provided.

***** We offer our rooms at cheaper rates to foreign students during term time, please contact us for more info *****

Règlement intérieur

We have a list of rules, aimed to provide harmony for communal living, safety of everyone and their posessions and protection of the environment. I will email you a list on request.

Some appear very obvious but as we rent to students during term times, you will appreciate that some still need reminders of obvious things (locking the front door & making sure the toilet is clean after use!)

Smoking is fine in the garden but not in the house.

Please inform us if you wish to bring a pet & we will assess each case, dogs are not allowed due to the fact we have 3 cats.

We have fulltime jobs & therefore only allow children over the age of 10 to stay if they are well behaved & calm. We may consider younger children if you're coming for a quick stop over and there are no other guests in situ. Please do ask us.

Please note, we like to know who we have in our home, so require a photocopy of your passport & utility bill.

Hi there!

I'm originally from Cheshire in England & have been living in France for a very long time. I came here to work in Normandy & somewhere along the line met my husband. He is from Paris but he's very well travelled & is not typically French at all! He loves Great Britain and appreciates our food.

We have both travelled a lot & have mixed in international circles. We also sponsor children in Mexico & Vietnam to allow them to go to school & have free medical treatment, we've visited them both on a few occasions. Mexico is one of our favourite countries.

My family live in Spain & it would be great to be able to practice Spanish with any of our guests.

We have been offering short-term rentals for a while now. We started renting to foreign students because as I discovered myself when I moved to France, it's extremely difficult to rent without having a garante: a French person, living in France who will legally pay your rent should you default. Yep, even 75 year old French people need a garante (many can't ask their parents to assist!). In France if you want to rent you need to present a Dossier to the landlord containing all your pay slips, bank records, your parents payslips, your parents income tax returns & so much more personal stuff. Additionally, there is a huge accommodation shortage in Paris & foreign people, students & people without an income are the last people to be chosen by a landlord who will receive 20 dossiers.

So we offer a flexible, no fuss, no dossier, no garante deal to them.

Students go home during the summer holidays so we decided to rent out rooms to passing tourists & businessmen on Airbnb. So here we are!

We are open to 2 types of hosting:

1. we leave you to your own devices, you get on with what you have to do

2. we can cook you the odd meal & let you sample some good French wines (my husband is an expert) or other international wines (I am the expert here) ;-) and we'd be happy (only if you want) if you cooked us one of your typical dishes.

I'm a vegetarian but my red meat-loving husband & other people appreciate my cooking. I actually give English Cookery lessons to local people! My husband is a great cook too.

We both have full time jobs so we like to be calm & relaxed during the week but we will try to be as helpful as we can during your stay. If there is a tourist attraction you would like to visit, let us know because sometimes we can get special prices ;-)

Our past guests (mostly non-Abnb students) have so far been from:
Holland, UK, Portugal/Angola, Poland, Honduras, Malaysia, USA (Texas & Boston), Mexico, Dominican Republic, Romania, Hungry, Spain, Ukraine/Bulgaria, Italy.

Which nationality will be the next ? ! ?
