Elegant 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom Zen Retreat. With intriguing views from every room, a very spacious front Lanai, and a private sitting area towards the mountains, this beach cottage makes a perfect romantic Hawaii getaway or an exclusive retreat.
All of our cottages provide an exceptional vacation experience, as our property is characterized by expansive lawns, lush palms, and fragrant tropical flowers in a very private setting. On the "makai" or sea side, the cottages are almost on the sandy beach of the Pacific with great snorkeling behind a protective reef! The wide beach directly in front of the property is a favorite spot for Ha'ena locals, but rarely frequented by any tourists. On the "mauka" or mountain side, well-maintained lawn areas behind shielding hedges, but with clear views of the nearby Napali Coastal Range with the world-famous Kalalau Trail, invite you to play and relax on the property. None of our cottages is built on "stilts", which makes the transition between inside and out much more immediate, natural, and pleasant than what is mostly offered elsewhere on Kauai. What also distinguishes our property is that we are located, not directly on the main Kuhio Highway with its high traffic, but rather at the end of a short and quiet side road towards the ocean with designated parking. Our property features free cable TV, redundant hard-wired and Wi-Fi Internet access. ha(URL HIDDEN)

Our property is a place for relaxation and peace. We require our guests to respect the other people on the property and maintain a peaceful atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
I love Squaw Valley and the beautiful North Shore of Kauai. Two worlds so different from one another and so dear to me.
Why Squaw Valley? I love the people, the mountains, the Lake and all the activities you can choose to do. While there, I can never decide, which season and what activity I like best. The winters here are beautiful. Blue skies, deep snow and awesome skiing! Spring is gorgeous. You can still ski on the top of the mountain or go hiking or golfing in the lower elevations. You can begin your day on the slopes and hike the trails in the afternoon.
Summer in Tahoe is marvelous, filled with never-ending outdoors activities like running, hiking, biking, rafting, boating… it doesn't end there... or just reading in the hammock under the pines… Fall makes me nostalgic about the Tahoe summer gone by. The nights get crisper the mountain air smells of pine and the sunsets are beautiful and dramatic. During the day we take bike rides or long hikes and in the evening we sit around the fireplace and enjoy the company of our friends.
And why do I love Kauai? There is something special about how the air seems to embrace me when I first step off the plane, my clock-speed instantly slows and I am ready to sit back and enjoy what ever presents itself. The changing colors of the ocean, the rich tropical foliage, the scent of flowers in the air, the sky that meets the horizon, the awe-inspiring NaPali Range, the sound of the surf and the super bright stars of the Milky Way. On Kauai, I feel one with nature, far removed from mainland stresses and needs. Every morning I watch how the sun rises from below the horizon out of the water, I snorkel with the turtles in front of the cottages and walk the beach for hours. After two or three days on the island I feel a transformation inside of me. Walking the beach clears my head and streamlines my thoughts. Sometimes, my heart skips a beat, because Kauai is so beautiful! At that moment, the world seems perfectly in balance.
When we are not in Squaw or on Kauai, we love to travel and explore new and exciting places. Most of all, I like to connect with people and stay where the locals are. Airbnb has become my favorite mode of travel and I am happy to share our Homes with like minded travelers, who like to explore and not leave a trace behind.
